well, let's see - my favorite actors are Pacino & Brando and my favorite bands are the Stones and Replacements so I'm gonna say No........Fnck no........actually I'mmina go one step further - I think perfectionists in general are kind of creepy - at least to the extent that they admire perfection in the Arts........like people whose favorite band is The Beatles (or The Smiths, or Radiohead or Pink Floyd etc) because Every song is perfect ......GTFO......I like all of them but that's implementing your bizarro desire for abstract perfection on to something that can not justify it at all.....that is some majorly creepy shit.......it's tied into list culture on some level and stuff too.......the InterWeb .........basically it's MAR's fault...... Not only am I not a perfectionist, I'm rather a perfect fuck up...........I often post on MAR a full day before thinking - ever see how few people "like" a pacinoyes post.........pussies .............and periodically fuck things up on purpose for the thrill of it basically....... “There is no exquisite beauty… without some strangeness in the proportion.” Note to book nerds: Poe was actually paraphrasing Sir Francis Bacon in the essay “Of Beauty”: “There is no excellent beauty that hath not some strangeness in the proportion.”

Don't wanna turn the thread into a sour thing btw - I'm in the second half of my 20s; reflecting on my life choices, undecided about future career, yada-yada...

Well........I shot a man in Reno just to watch him die once (um) .......the most serious trouble I've gotten into is the usual Detritus of The Game of Life - losing touch with people I should have kept around............. or keeping around some bad influences that I shouldn't have....... Usually as an adult there's only one thing you "have" to do - and that's your job.........I've been insanely lucky in that regard and when you settle on that it self-corrects a lot of life choices and opens up new ones - so maybe in that regard you have to be a perfectionist or be lucky ........all the best buddy

Yes, very much so... but I don’t desire perfection in the art I consume, it’s just a compulsion I have in my own work. It often results in high-quality output, but as you can imagine, it can be maddening. It helps to put something away if I find myself spending too long on it and come back to it later with fresh eyes, or getting another pair of eyes for validation, but that can also become too much of a crutch. At a certain point, you have to just trust your own ability and know when something is “good enough,” move on and let it go, but that can be easier said than done.

I don't know about everyone else but your contrasts to Pacinoyes (such as reflected in your music "rules") has grown to become one of my favorite running things in MAR
