This has been in my head lately becaue Djokovic being called by everyone the "toughest" mentally of all tennis players - arguably all athletes - which is funny because it's true but also because it wasn't always in his case ...........and because of LeBron not taking a final shot recently and being mocked for it. So what are some example of guys who were clutch and guys who weren't..........Brady obviously was ........Djokovic eventually at least since his 15-40 match saving, heartbreaking wins against Federer and coming back from Covid pressures to win AO 23........Adam Vinatieri........ I think of Jordan obviously..........Kobe also ..........for guys who weren't great at it well..........he was still a great player but it's also a killer line:

I'm not a Tennis guy. I haven't watched Tennis since the late 90s. Agassi, Sampras, Chang, Hingis, Graf, Seles, and.....Kournikova. Well her ass, at least was more interesting than her play. Can't say anything about tennis.
But basketball, absolutely Jordan. Watching Chicago vs Utah in '97 and '98, you can tell the Jazz generally blow it in the last 2 minutes. Malone badly missed 3 point shot, their free throws go brick, Jordan strips Malone, can't inbound the ball. All those things end up happening to the Jazz, and Karl Malone takes center stage on that.
I'd say Lionel Messi comes thru in the clutch. Usually Argentina always win penalty kicks - for some reason. And England (or France) is like the opposite. Of course Messi isn't a one man army.

michael jordan tom brady michael phelps jesse owens patrick roy tiger woods joe frazier and muhammad ali
lebron has big blemishes on his career (2011 finals) but he’s (statistically) one of the clutchest players in nba history and his mental strength actually became one of his great assets later on in his career.

Great call outs so far and MJ will forever be #1 on the list as far as I’m concerned,
As much as I hate the guy, I suppose Jeter should be included. Curt Schilling too.

Say whatever you want about him, but Eli Manning. There was no better QB in the 4th quarter ever during his 2011 season... and he managed to keep Brady and Brady fans from bragging about two more rings.
