I've said this a lot - all Art forms - all things actually - have their peak era:
There's a peak of Poetry, Video Games, Novels, Plays - whatever etc. - it is never - ever - the case that you have "peaks continually topping peaks"....
Well for British Actresses there is a peak era of about 20 years or so from Maggie Smith, Judi Dench, Vanessa Redgrave, Glenda Jackson, until Helen Mirren (the youngest) - that class in general - and all of those ones ^ were theater based, with huge movie successes - with almost all of them being winners of the Acting Triple Crown (except Dench) - that will never..........ever.........be replicated in terms of the full talent spectrum across the whole class.
An uncommonly smart actress - who I got to see play King Lear a couple years ago - in a performance that was snubbed for a Tony nomination (because the Tony awards are a fucking joke for the last ~ 30 years - get it?) and she was one of those special people - like James Earl Jones and Michael Gambon - that I felt very fortunate that I ever got to see walk on a stage.
RIP

Such terrible news... May she rest in peace. She is one of my all time favorite actresses - she was absolutely ferocious. I feel so fortunate that I got to see her Tony-winning performance in Three Tall Women.

Such a legend, on the screen and off. Admirable as her efforts in Parliament were, it's so great she got the fuck out of there and had that last run these past few years.
I'd also still take this hardcore Republican over all the many who have tried their hand at playing Lizzie 1 on-screen over the past century, and what a laugh that is.

I really was hoping we'd get a late-career Oscar play for ol' G-Jack, especially as I'm not overly thrilled by her two Oscar wins which are quite frankly for some of her least engaging performances.

Yeah, she's so classy though she didn't seem that interested in the screen She did the one TV thing and BAM everyone bowed down. Maybe if the pandemic hadn't hit just when she was starting to get back to movies there would have been more opportunity. Hope this thing with Caine is not awful at the very least.

Her return to acting netted her those elusive Tony and Television BAFTA wins! That's pretty incredible when you think about it... She only needed the Olivier to complete her Transatlantic Double Triple Crown... pacinoyes

RIP. Part of that immaculate generation.
Should've played either the Wicked Witch of the West, or the Witch of the North in an updated Wizard of Oz adaptation, but apparently never was one, suitable at least.
