holy shit, this seems so overwhelming lmao. exceeded my expectations.
hopefully the game can release without being a buggy mess. if a lot of the promises in this video are fulfilled, it’ll be something else.

This is either going to be my next favorite game that I will spend hundreds/thousands of hours in, or it'll be a crushing disappointment of Cyberpunk proportions. There is no middle ground. everything minus the space combat looks fucking perfect (dogfights ain't my thing). I'm a little worried about the procedurally generated planets getting old really fast but that shouldn't be an issue if there's enough genuinely crafted locations, worlds, lore, etc. Even in F4 and Skyrim when the locations feel samey (especially those draugr dungeons), there was still always a sense that everything you were seeing was created for you to find. Exploration in Bethesda games is unmatched. If the procedurally generated worlds are just basically grindy add-ons to supplement the main experience, I might be ok with that. Also really hope there's a scrapping/resource system similar to F4. One of the coolest things about F4 is that practically everything you pick up has value (minus the stupid subway tokens and overdue books). Everything is junk that can be broken down and used. Skyrim had way too much loot bloat. No one wants to be exploring a dungeon and accidentally picking up useless plates and cups.

Hello, may I ask, in what console did you play Cyberpunk 2077, and what did you dislike about it?

Hello, may I ask, in what console did you play Cyberpunk 2077, and what did you dislike about it? haven't, but I closely followed the coverage around it when it dropped because I'd been anticipating it for years. The E3 gameplay reveal promised so much stuff they didn't deliver. I don't care about the post-launch bugs or graphics, you can't patch totally absent or underbaked mechanics. that video totally eliminated all my concerns about the first person POV. I'm also excited that gameplay-wise and in terms of story/quest progression, it looks very similar to Witcher 3 down to the yellow branching dialogue, and that's what excites me more than the FPS and bioware mechanics showcased. I love the idea of being able to explore this huge world and make decisions that ripple throughout the story in unpredictable ways. This is my kind of game. Please take my money, CDPR. Starfield looks amazing if Bethesda can keep its promises.

I’m kinda waiting to see what people think. I don’t want another No Man’s Sky.

mildly positive review from the gameranx boys
Sounds like a basic Bethesda open world exploration RPG in the vein of Skyrim of Fallout 4 which sounds good to me. Definitely looks old and kinda ugly, especially the procedurally generated planets (and the whole space exploration aspect seems like a misfire tbh). The highpoints sound like the ship customization and the main/quest world, the review keeps saying that the game does best when interacting with the story and characters which is good news. I'm ready to jump into a new Bethesda world and if their past games are any indication I'll be staying for hundreds of hours. It sounds like there are TONS of quests which is great.

so i’m about 16 hours deep. the first 8-10 hours or so were pretty good. i’d say around a 7/10. it’s quite overwhelming and the first 2 hours especially feel rushed. the loading screens are abundant (albeit short) and you are fast travelling a lot. the main storyline didn’t really intrigue me either. around the time i found the temple though, that’s when i really started to become immersed with the game. that feeling of wanting keep playing to see what comes next. last time i sat down for 5+ hours straight with a game was RDR2. this is like fallout meets mass effect. it’s not necessarily game changing (so far), but god damn is it enjoyable. like past bethesda games, the main fun seems to be had with the side quests and everything you can do outside of the main storyline. i’m infiltrating a pirate gang atm and it’s been a blast. there’s some bugs here and there but this is actually pretty polished, especially compared to recent AAA releases and games of this scope.
i won’t have the chance to put too many hours in the next couple of weeks, but that’s where i’m with it atm.
