Oh honey, I find it impossible to resist movies and as a result I have too many of them. Friends are always giving me DVDs saying that I should watch this and that performance. I've started discarding the covers & cases of the easy to find mainstream movies and storing the discs in 400 DVD folders to minimise space as my apartment is small (I have about six of these folders already). I always think that I might like to watch a movie again at a later date so I find it hard to let them go. Sometimes I buy too many and then go out and compulsively buy more - I want to watch everything! I also think that if you have a small collection of only favorite DVDs then you have to watch them more frequently so it's much better to have a vast collection... but is it?
Is anyone else a DVD hoarder? Does it bother you and how do you deal with it? Is it possible to love a movie without having to own a personal copy?
Dear God! Somebody please help me!

Yes, I have stupid amounts of DVDs and Blu Rays.
I've cut down on the amount I buy over the last couple of years.

Yeah, I'm worried they're going to become outdated technology within 5-10 years, and I don't actually watch many of them. The other day I donated some to my library.

I was into blind buying a lot of classics a few years ago, and now the house is swamped with over 2,000 films.....

Not anymore... I just buy things on my Prime Video account. I find it's cheaper and way easier.

Use to raid PawnAmerica for unscratched classics and have about 150-200 of them, but not anymore

I used to get a little more than 30 new movies a year, but decreased that by a ton lately as I'm an adult that needs money for rent now. Last year I bought 20. Currently the only movies from this year that I will for sure buy are Logan, Get Out, and Guardians of the Galaxy. Looking at the rest of the summer, the only ones that stand a good chance if they turn out well are Apes, Spider-Man, Baby Driver, and Dunkirk.

Now only buy films I really like and would watch again. Same here, I usually wait until I consider myself finished with a year in film in terms of new watches and then I'll pick out only the ones I know I will watch at least twice more and then order them all. It has kept me from going crazy with the purchases over the last few years.

I have around 200 DVDs but stopped buying those last year and moved onto Blu-Ray. Have about 40 of those now. Now only buy films I really like and would watch again. Financially, this practise has saved me a lot of cash lol. Years ago I used to waste money by blind buys, now I'm more savvy and a little more refined by only picking films that I know I love before I buy.

Even worse... VHS addiction! They're so damn cheap I can't not buy them! I have close to 400. Top notch films though I have to buy on Bluray, I have a fairly limited collection of about 35 and they are mostly PTA and Alfred Hitchcock

WAY too many. VHS too. And I've just recently acquired a Region Free Bluray player so I've been (hesitantly) scooping up some Blurays too.
