Well, this is a fascinating subject. Just found out A24 has packaged 'The Disaster Artist' for a December Release Date. Why would A24 feel the need to release a Comedy/Drama film in December? That gives me a strange feeling this will be a Hollywood-based heavy contender much like 'La La Land.' That's sounds so fucking stupid, I know. But Hear me out; It's a Well-Regarded Satirical Biopic centered around one of the worst films of ever made. That just screams 'UNEXPECTED NOMINATIONS' to me. It could be the "Fluff" Hyperbole Critically Acclaimed Film that heads in and Wins Best Picture. (Ala; 'Shakespeare in Love,' 'Forest Gump,' 'American Beauty,' 'Chicago.' Etc etc.) I also have a feeling they'll find this to be an opportunity to give James Franco "his due" for his consistent attempts to gain the recognition of the Academy. Very Unlikely, I know. The Voters of the Academy are VERY, VERY unlikely to pick 'Best Picture' to the Biopic centered around Tommy Wiseau's Masterpiece, a lot of them probably haven't even heard of 'The Room.' But what if? What if the 'The Disaster Artist' gains enough attention and recognition during the hottest time of Awards Season to be a Major Threat? Anything could happen. They might go back to their old ways after 2 Years of Political Wins and Give the Best Picture to something 'Movie-Based.' Also; It would be fucking epic. It'll be like 'The Room' won Best Fucking Picture. How Historic.

Doubt it goes anywhere with that Dec release and the niche quality of the film, but Franco should certainly happen at Globes

I think it's just going to be a crowd-pleasing comedy that gets good reviews. Maybe one of the leads gets a nom if the performance is exceptionally good. There's usually at least one big mainstream comedy released at Christmastime, doesn't mean t has to be an Oscar movie.

Again, I don't think It'll stand much of a chance against everything else. Doesn't mean It's going to be another 'Why Him?' Just saying It's the darkest dark horse alongside all the other potential candidates.
