I know I predicted Bassett but I did tell y'all Condon was too much of an unknown to get the BAFTA+Oscar combo

Eh it was a close race so it was probably enough of an edge, but less Condon being unknown, and more so Curtis was a vet seen overdue in an extremely popular film. It cannot be understated how well Jamie Lee Curtis ran the fuck out of her campaign this year. In fact, she did a hell of a lot to really bring Everything Everywhere as far as it did, and I'm glad she got her laurels for it, because she worked every room and promoted that movie so hard. If it couldn't be Kerry, I'm glad it was her, especially considering how everyone demonized her throughout the season. Fuck the haters. You go, JLC. We're handing out acting wins for campaign runs now? Boy...you lot have fell the fuck off... Anyway, Curtis winning is garbage but it wasn't a devastating blow for me because I predicted shenanigans in advance...

...but it could've been Kerry. We don't always get what we want. But she got her BAFTA, she got the critics' prizes, and I hope to God this gives her better roles than an MCU voice role and playing Mike Ehrmantraut's daughter-in-law. Honestly I've always associated her with playing Octavia in Rome.

I mean, I am genuinely curious why, and how we started treating the Oscars as legitimate again, when I’m pretty sure we all agreed it was more guilty pleasure than anything.

McDonagh, you know what to do.

Congratulations on both your Oscar and your new Wikipedia article, James Friend.

So far, 3 great wins (Animated, Quan, Cinematography) and one awful one (JLC). Decent start, but sadly I fully expect those tallies to change for the worse as the night goes on.

They had to remind us that Suicide Squad won this category.

I feel like the show so far flows pretty smoothly this year. Is it just me?

They had to remind us that Suicide Squad won this category. I like to remind people that Suicide Squad and Citizen Kane (now considered the greatest film of all time) won the same number of Oscars. Food 4 Thought

I feel like the show so far flows pretty smoothly this year. Is it just me? Yeah, but nothing very exciting or memorable has really happened. Almost too smooth

Hate the film but I'll give it credit for avoiding the Darkest Hour balloon man look

I feel like the show so far flows pretty smoothly this year. Is it just me? So far. I like the pace. Unfortunately it will probably change in about an hour and start dragging. Fraser is probably winning now
