Best Hailee Steinfeld, True Grit Berenice Bejo, The Artist Anne Hathaway, Les Miserables Rooney Mara, Carol Viola Davis, Fences
Worst Jackie Weaver, Silver Linings Playbook Jennifer Lawrence, American Hustle (i don't hate this performance like everyone else seems to, but it definitely should not have gotten a nomination) Meryl Streep, Into the Woods (again, Academy, STOP nominating Meryl for every damn movie she's in) Rachel McAdams, Spotlight (she does absolutely nothing that warrants a nomination) Nicole Kidman, Lion (such a boring non-performance that probably only got nominated because the movie was peaking at the right time)

it'd be fun to run this poll for the 2000s too!
Best: 1. Anne Hathaway, Les Misérables 2. Rooney Mara, Carol 3. June Squibb, Nebraska 4. Helen Hunt, The Sessions 5. Jacki Weaver, Animal Kingdom
Wort: (I don't passionately dislike most of these, they're just very unmemorable) 5. Kate Winslet, Steve Jobs 4. Melissa Leo, The Fighter 3. Jacki Weaver, The Silver Linings Playbook 2. Naomie Harris, Moonlight (too OTT for me) 1. Jennifer Jason Leigh, The Hateful Eight (waaaay too OTT for me)
I have no doubt Streep and Roberts would have been here if I had seen Into the Woods and Osage County.

Best-
Kate Winslet, Steve Jobs Viola Davis- Fences Amy Adams- The Fighter June Squibb- Nebraska Rooney Mara- Carol
Worst-
Jennifer Lawrence- American Hustle (not a hater, but ughhh) Melissa Leo- The Fighter Rachel McAdams- Spotlight Keira Knightley- The Imitation Game Hailee Steinfeld- True Grit (I dislike the Lawrence/Leo performances, McAdams and Knightley were fine but just dull and total filler noms, I like Steinfeld in this, but it was the one that hurt the least to include among the ones I've seen)

Best: 1. Sally Hawkins, Blue Jasmine
She's so natural, and makes it look so easy. It doesn't seem like acting at all. Plus, in many scenes where she doen't talk or says only a few words, she can express so much trough her eyes and body language. This woman might be one of the best actresses still in activity. 2. Julia Roberts, August: Ausage CountyRoberts making a smart use of her peerless charisma and great line deliveries à la Erin Brockovich. And overshadowing Streep during the whole thing. 3. Keira Knightley, The Imitation Game
She's perhaps the only woman in the cast, but her performance is so strong, even remarkable. All her scenes are among the best of this film. 4. Naomie Harris, MoonlightMy second favorite of 2016. Apart from her big scene with Trevante Rhodes (which made me emotional), she overshadowed all her co-stars. 5. Viola Davis, FencesEmotionally intense and very impressive work. When acting together with the best, she knows how to stand her ground. Worst: 1. Jacki Weaver, Silver Linings Playbook
She wasn't bad, she was just... there. Her nomination is puzzling, since she didn't have enough scenes to prove whatever she is capable of doing. 2. Helena Bonham Carter, The King's Speech
I'm not a fan of the film, nor of the way how she approached her character. 3. Kate Winslet, Steve Jobs
Her hideous look and the constant verbal diarrhea put me off immediately. 4. Michelle Williams, Manchester by the Sea
Needless to say, her 'big' scene... didn't really work with me. 5. Patricia Arquette, Boyhood
Meh.
