Who are your 5 best / favourite and 5 worst / least favourite of the nominees so far in Supporting Actor
Best 1 Christian Bale, The Fighter 2 Philip Seymour Hoffman, The Master 3 John Hawkes, Winter's Bone 4 Barkhad Abdi, Captain Phillips 5 Christoph Waltz, Django Unchained
Worst 1 Bradley Cooper, American Hustle 2 Michael Fassbender, 12 Years a Slave 3 Christopher Plummer, Beginners 4 Sylvester Stallone, Creed 5 Jonah Hill, Moneyball
That worst list was hard to narrow down. I could have gotten to 10 with ease.

Worst Max von Sydow, Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close Alan Arkin, Argo Bradley Cooper, American Hustle Robert Duvall, The Judge (a fine performance, but nothing that should've been even close to getting a nomination) Christian Bale, The Big Short (wtf did he do that was even remotely close to being worthy? his two best scenes were cut from the film)

BEST:
1. J.K Simmons - Whiplash (One of the Most Deserved Academy Awards of the past 2 decades.)
2. Philip Seymour Hoffman - The Master (One Word; 'Brilliant.')
3. Jared Leto - Dallas Buyers Club (Leto didn't need to loose all that weight and put makeup on to transform into a Woman. His performance did it for him.)
4. Tom Hardy - The Revenant (Hardy is virtually unrecognizable in this amazing showcase of his talent. Hardy can outshine Leo on his best day.)
5. Mahershala Ali - Moonlight (The Type of Acting we don't see anymore. Ali's performance is complex and precise, very difficult to analyze or describe.) WORST: 1. Robert Duvall - The Judge (Uggghhh...)
2. Ethan Hawke - Boyhood ("Ethan Hawke seems like the guy who wasn't suppose to be a Movie Star, but he slipped through the cracks and everybody was just like 'Ok.' " - @julianaxelrod)3. Lucas Hedges - Manchester by the Sea (Besides the "Dad in the Freezer Crying" scene. Hedges really brought the film down.)
4. Jonah Hill - The Wolf of Wall Street (Unimpressive, even when compared to Leo. The game changing or profound nuances of acting are nowhere to be found.)
5. Bradley Cooper - American Hustle (Although above average and one of the many fine performances in 'American Hustle.' He's definitely the weak link.)

Best: 1. Jared Leto, Dallas Buyers Club
His physical transformation, which is impressive nonetheless, is not even the best about his work. I think Leto delivers a purely heartbreaking and mesmerizing performance in this film. 2. J. K. Simmons, Whiplash
Chilling. It gave me goosebumps, and still does on rewatch. 3. Edward Norton, BirdmanPerhaps his best performance after American History X. His spontaneity is disarming. 4. Mahershala Ali, Moonlight
His character is so benevolent and approachable, it's impossible not to like him. 5. Ethan Hawke, Boyhood
One of the coolest dads of cinema. Worst: 1. Mark Rylance, Bridge of Spies
Please don't hate me for not liking this snoozy achievement. 2. Mark Ruffalo, The Kids Are Allright
How Julianne Moore ends up falling for him I don't know. 3. Robert de Niro, Silver Linings Playbook
His weakest nomination. Still, not bad. I'm naming only three because these are the only ones I dislike or am indifferent to.
