So hard to choose, as she's one of those actors who's great in everything, but if you had to pick an absolute favorite, what would it be? I'm going with High Tide (1987)...

"Great in everything" is absolutely right @tyler - I think if she had worked/would work more often she'd be the very GOAT.
I'll agree with High Tide for best. I like to think of it as her Five Easy Pieces. I did a big writeup in the Last Great Perf thread on it, but yeah... it really sticks with you, that perf. She's transcendent.
There's also her breakthru, perhaps at her levelest and loveliest: My Brilliant Career. And on the other hand, at her wildest, campiest, funniest: A Little Thing Called Murder. And for sure her most obscure and overlooked: Rocket to the Moon.
And several all-timer supporting perfs: Husbands and Wives, On My Own, Naked Lunch, Nitram.
I might just post my Top 25 of hers while we're at it!

one of the best
1. My Brilliant Career 2. Husbands and Wives 3. Naked Lunch 4. A Passage to India 5. Deconstructing Harry
as ambivalent as I was towards the film, she's nothing to sneeze at in Nitram either and is actually probably the best thing about that film.
