I didn’t know Little Children was this well liked. I remember it not being very popular upon release. Maybe I’ll rewatch

Don't quite get the hype around Miller other than the mystery of what he's been doing for nine years. He made three relatively standard Oscar bait dramas, with Moneyball being an admittedly well crafted one. Tar alone puts Field far ahead. He (and Glazer) are artists to a much greater extent. I definitely wouldn’t describe Foxcatcher as a standard Oscar bait drama... I wouldn’t even call Moneyball standard Oscar bait tbh. It’s just a more conventional and accessible drama.

A couple of pretty similar guys. Both reclusive low output directors who made three very well regarded movies and may never make anything else. I got to say I prefer Miller because Little Children is the only film of their 6 combined I don’t love. Merged this thread into the polls thread we have on this same comparison.
