Just got back from this at the Orpheum in Minneapolis with my family (surprised my mom for Mother's Day). This was so friggin fantastic. I often times find myself emotional while witnessing feats of art and this was one of those times just outstanding work especially during "Defying Gravity". Has anybody else seen this?

I saw it back in February! I didn't really get the big deal, to be honest. I mean it was nice, but to me the only really impressive thing about it was the girl playing Glinda. The thing I was most surprised by was how this straight up modern phenomenon looked and felt so small, and kind of cheap.
As for Defying Gravity, it's amazing, but I had always heard the whole song sung through in the one go, I had no idea in the actual show it was all chopped up the way it is with the talking bits in between. That totally lessens its impact.

It's a great tragedy, disguised as a pop musical. The fact that it succeeds as both is pretty darn amazing.
