My childhood! I can still remember the part layout of my precious Goliath from the first AC. I think I made this thing before I could read.
Head: HD-ZERO Core: XCH-01 Arms: AR-GT2000 (Gatling gun arms) Legs: LN-3001C Generator: GPS-V6 FCS: COMDEX... Shit, the bulky one. Not the starter COMDEX, the other one. Boosters: B-T2 Back weapon L: That 16 drop mine dispenser, can't remember the name Back Weapon R: The scatter missile that fires 6 warheads outwards in a circular pattern before forming back in to wipe out the same target
It was a bulky piece of crap with unwieldy weaponry (that failed to pack much punch, save for the scatter missile that was useless in tight spaces), but it was MY piece of crap.
I literally played the first game for... 15 years? 20? It makes me smile to see this come back under Miyazaki's direction. There is such room to innovate this franchise while staying true to its core gameplay and story philosophies. I still hold that the story's method of unfolding the story through what amounts to PR spin doctors trying to sell the player on their bullshit was an innovative storytelling technique that mirrors what you will find in any major political race throughout history.
