I definitely prefer La giornata balorda - released one year before with very similar themes/constructs. Have you seen it? I think it's just gorgeous. By the way, you were the first person to recommend Senso for me!

By the way, you were the first person to recommend Senso for me! Added to watchlist. And yeah, I figured it'd be the type of film you'd love. One of Visconti's best for sure.

Comes down to Fellini, De Sica, and Leone. Right now, I'm going with Bicycle Thieves.

The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly. Damn, forgot about the spaghetti westerns. I change my vote to the same.

Not necessarily my favorite (that's probably Toby Dammit I guess) but one I've always loved that doesn't get near the level of acclaim is Fiorile by the Taviani Bros. It's not their best work but it has something to it........an eerie pull about the allure and compromises of seeking great wealth. It's a ravishing piece of work.
I actually watch it more often than their even better films (Padre Padrone, Night of The Shooting Stars).....

Narrowing down the work of the great Tinto Brass is a tough, tough job.
