The U.S.'s streak of getting the last game of the day is now broken. I can't make it for the Netherlands/US game. It's 7 am on the West Coast. Welp.... not giving up sleep for that. Meh, what a weakling. I have fond memories of waking up 3am to watch Brazil in 2002. Also in this WC alone, 7am here was the time of Argentina vs Saudi Arabia, the coolest game in the tournament. Also, people who don't follow the sport too closely or never played often don't understand the point, but it's an essential part of the game because allows defenders to move away from their own area without fear of leaving an attacker unmarked. Without it, then there would be no midfield, just players trying to stay close to the area and the goalkeeper and the ones trying to stop them. I get it, but is just makes it a lot less interesting as a spectator sport to me. I'd rather see more play around the goal instead of the long stretches of playing keepaway in the middle of the field. But if it didn't exist, it would be two teams roofing the ball to the other side of the pitch all the time. |

Lol you're in a better time zone than me. You miss one game, two at most. I miss all except the last game. You (I'm assuming) support a team that's been better than mediocre for the last 32 years. U.S is gonna lay an egg against the Dutch, they getting all excited over beating a mediocre Iran team, but their excitement is gonna be short-lived. I'll be pleasantly surprised if they can beat the Dutch. I was in the same timezone as the world cup in 2002. I didn't need to wake up as I was on vacation in the Far East, firstly. Secondly, Brazil was gonna win that year, that team and roster was too dominant. And Ronaldo was so much better than the next best player in that tournament. Didn't feel like there was a point in waking up knowing the result. |

I'm getting into it now tbh.....the possibility of Cruyff's ghost haunting the US game adds a whole horror movie undercurrent I'm a big fan of ......plus it is just so old school which appeals to me what with my own ancient status   |

The referee in Tunisia France whistled for the end of the game, then went to watch the VAR, cancelled Griezmann 's goal, then made them play another minute.

Poland played that entire game like absolute cvnts out there the whole time just trying to avoid letting slip of that goal difference advantage AND the yellow card advantage it's truly sad their mediocre European asses got away with it. I hope France well and truly batter them. |
