I saw Till this afternoon, a film that has long been the dream of Whoopi Goldberg to bring to fruition. She of course intended for herself to play the role of Mamie Till, but aged out of it before the film could fully begin production... But, she is simply wonderful in the small but pivotal role of Emmett Till's grandmother, Alma. This got me thinking about "passion projects" - i.e. films that are the "babies" of actors, so to speak - films they've fought long and hard to get made. Let's compile a list of such nominations for actors. Off the top of my head, I've got... Isabelle Adjani, Camille ClaudelWarren Beatty, RedsGlenn Close, Albert Nobbs and The WifeSalma Hayek, FridaPlease, help me think of some others.

I would imagine Denzel Washington in Fences would count.

Ed Harris - PollockIt's a miracle this version of the film got made and he played the lead..........a lot of actors wanted to play Pollock.....his determination on this was pretty amazing.......

I believe "The Wolf of Wall Street" was DiCaprio's passion project. It sure paid off.

Surprised we forgot to mention Jessica Chastain for The Eyes of Tammy Faye - from the film's IMDb Trivia Page: The film had been a passion project of Chastain's for a number of years before it ended up being made. She had seen the documentary The Eyes of Tammy Faye (2000) around 2012 and felt drawn to tell Tammy's story after acquiring the rights to produce a biopic about the infamous televangelist.
