For sure not as good as The Shadow Line, but for sure comparable to The Honourable Woman in the blick canon. Obviously beautiful, just aesthetically blissful and all draped in such sadness that makes it all the sweeter, but it might have been better if it was about half the length it is, as I think it kind of dragged unnecessarily here and there, with the first two episodes particularly probably not needing that much time to get through what they got through. Blunt and Spall, particularly Spall, should get all the awards. stephen how have you not been all over this? It's like it was made for you.

I did watch it and I thought it was all right (albeit beautifully shot), but Rafe Spall doing his best Tom Hardy impression and especially Nichola McAuliffe were the standouts. Blunt and Spencer were fine but I just didn't think the core story was that engaging. Also loved Stephen Rea, but that's an evergreen statement.

I thought this was pretty great. Low lows but ecstatically high highs, especially in the last two eps. The story is tough to get into because it's basically all setup for the finale so at times you can lose your bearings and forget why these characters are supposed to matter. Initially I was irritated that we were spending time away from Blunt & Spencer because they're the heart of the show, but it all comes together perfectly in the finale. The style is so exquisite. Felt almost Coens-esque, and it has some of the most beautiful cinematography I've seen on TV all year. And the ending packs a serious punch.
Uniformly good cast with great turns by Valerie Pachner and Rafe Spall but my MVPs were Blunt & Spencer. God they're so hot together. Spencer in particular was the most pleasant surprise because I'd never heard of him but his perf just checks all the right boxes (amazing presence, subtle intention in every stoic line-read and a powerful soulful voice) in addition to just being just very fucking attractive. Blunt is terrific too but Spencer deserves a lot more credit for this performance than he's getting. A lot more.
and talk about an unskippable opening theme.
