I wonder when she will finally work with PTA. People always talk about a potential DiCaprio and PTA collab, but let’s be honest here, Blanchett blows DiCaprio off the screen with her eyebrows. A Blanchett-PTA collab is where it’s at.

Greatest living actress? No, that's Huppert, and she's still behind Judy Davis for me too. Greatest working actress? Of course.... no one right now is so obviously, amply, ridiculously at the peak of their powers and she's also so far this decade's best actor/actress by a mile. She works more than anybody and across episodics, big features, experimental features, theater..... It's both unfathomable and fathomable and fun to predict her near future - how much higher can she go? Wait, she's already near the very top! Though I must say....... If we took this to vote I think MsMovieStar could really pull rank and be voted Best Ever And Always. She just has so many fans - How else to veer the heat of Acapulco? And thank goodness (and don't forget badness) that Tar is doing so well, I hear you're already cast in Tar 2: Bachanalia, and I hear the script to Three Tarquila, Floor! is coming along nicely (we're going to be floored, alright). Oh honey, Tarquila! I love you! I was watching Dash & Lilly (1999) last week with Judy Davis as Lillian Hellman and Sam Shepherd as Dashiell Hammett, and in the opening scene the moment Davis opened her mouth, I was instantly reminded of Blanchett. The whole very clear modulated way of speaking that Blanchett has adopted is Davis'. I've always felt that Blannie owed a lot of her career to Davis and sometimes putting in a performance 'inspired' by Davis' work. Blanchett was just the Hollywood co-operative version of Davis, who kind of ruined and limited her career by refusing to live in the US, and despite being recognised as brilliant gained a reputation for being difficult (refusing to do any form of nudity or to play bimbos).

This should probably go in the Tar thread but I think it will appeal to Cate fans most of all: .......... he’s now releasing a new short that expands the TCU (TÁR Cinematic Universe). The news was unveiled in this morning’s announcement that TÁR will screen at Berlinale with the cast and crew present.
“Showing TÁR in Berlin for a special screening was a natural choice. In a cinematic way, the acclaimed work of Todd Field and his actors has captured the special flair of this city. We are very happy that Todd Field along with Cate Blanchett, Nina Hoss and composer Hildur Guðnadóttir have accepted our proposal to share some of the secrets of their work in a public talk at Berlinale Talents. We are also delighted to be premiering a new short that expands the TÁR universe, THE FUNDRAISER, that will screen alongside their talk,” said Artistic Director Carlo Chatrian.thefilmstage.com/the-tar-cinematic-universe-will-expand-with-new-short-film-by-todd-field/

Oh honey, there's no way Nicole could manage one tenth of those facial movements (as well as use her own hair). Blannie's looking very much like a mid life Vanessa Redgrave here... a very savvy move when you're on your way to grabbing that third Oscar.

Just gonna put this here as this is kinda the Cate Blanchett thread now. Anyways, this is a pretty odd quote considering she’s nominated for an Oscar this year for a role where she plays a lesbian.

She speaks. O, speak again, bright angel, for thou art. As glorious to this night, being o'er my head,Doing that full court press thing - getting awards (San Sebastian below), saying she may quit (doubt it, as Jay Z said about Jay Z "too much ambition") telling you to separate the artist from the Art, sticking up for Picasso, hinting that Lydia Tar was right (about Bach) sort of linking Tar to Blanchett so you get so confused you give her a 3rd Oscar which you know, she deseves anyway.......quite a week or so from her......she's been busy..... www.latimes.com/entertainment-arts/story/2023-02-14/cate-blanchett-says-acting-career-might-be-overCate Blanchett is thinking about breaking up with acting — again. The actor, who’s Oscar-nominated for lead actress for her acclaimed performance in “Tár,” has been in the throes of an on-again, off-again romance with acting for more than 30 years. Now the Oscar nominee is reiterating sentiments she has shared before, and it may be the final curtain call for her acting career. “It’s not occasional — it’s continual,” Blanchett said of her desire to quit acting in a Vanity Fair interview published Monday. “On a daily or weekly basis, for sure. It’s a love affair, isn’t it? So you do fall in and out of love with it, and you have to be seduced back into it.”
In February 2019, she sat down with Julia Roberts for Interview magazine and opened up about the less savory sides of her profession. “As you get older, acting just gets more and more humiliating,” Blanchett told Roberts. “When I was younger, I would wonder why the older actors I admired kept talking about quitting. Now I realize it’s because they want to maintain a connection to the last shreds of their sanity. “As I get older, I ask myself if I still want to submit myself to the shamanistic end of this profession and go completely into madness,” she added. “It’s the King Lear end of the spectrum of what we do, right? So I’m on the proverbial couch thinking, ‘Do I want to go that direction, or do I actually want to live a life?’” According to Vanity Fair, after “Tár” wrapped, director Todd Field suggested she take a break, but she didn’t.She jumped right into the Apple TV+ thriller “Disclaimer” and co-produced and starred in the upcoming Australian film “The New Boy.” While Blanchett acknowledges she probably should have taken Field’s advice, she told Vanity Fair she’s finally going to rest. “I just said no to a couple of things. I think it’s time to be quiet.”

The "acting career may be over" and "she's retiring" headlines make for great bait. Look, Blanchett really means, "I just fed you all a masterpiece, so I can sit on my throne for awhile and breathe until the next role comes along that is worthy of me. Now bow." I had to say it for her because she's too classy.

ibbi - Now you know that list is very much a "Two of these things are not like the others" situation. Remember Van Heflin's presence in this Slim Aarons photo? Same energy.

Um.........faux publicity stunt? Most desired leak by someone with access to it? I blame Lydia Tar for this if this is true.......this is exactly what that bitch would do ........ Nicolò Grasso @nickygra97 12:45 PM · Feb 23, 2023 · 213.4K Views I'm one of the lucky SOBs to watch the TÁR short film THE FUNDRAISER, which Field and Blanchett confirmed won't ever be screened again. Time Magazine "Women of the Year" - there's 12 on ths list - each with a separate cover I guess - pretty typical of the patriarchy to limit it to 12 isnt it? - the exact same number as 2 six packs of beer ------- which they routinely drink after telling us to get in the kitchen and make their sandwiches.......pffft.......make your own sandwich you monster!

www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-13275381/Blanchett-Cate-stuns-Charing-Cross-station.htmlI love her so much Cate Blanchett attempted to blend in with the locals as she raced for a train this week.
The Australian actress was spotted dashing down the road to London's Charing Cross Station at rush hour.
She made it in time for her commuter train, stunning other passengers who were surprised to see Cate in the cattle classes.
The Australian two-time Academy Award winning actress luckily made it with a couple of minutes to spare and sat in economy class.
The Blue Jasmine actress looked relieved to have made it in time and took her seat alongside a window.
