princecharlescinema.com/PrinceCharlesCinema.dll/WhatsOn?f=24270940Great, eerie trailer. W/ a cast to make stephen swoon. Premiering in two weeks at BFI London Film Festival. No official release date yet. Fascinating luck from the director, a 19y/o film student who pushed his script thru Rylance's letterbox mid-quarantine and the actor took him up on it, jumpstarting the project.

More horror movies need to make extensive use of rhyming. More horror movies need to make extensive use of Mark Rylance and Kathryn Hunter.

It's a very unsettling trailer and Rylance wearing a gold chain can't possibly be anything other than devious. I just hope it's not like Men which had a really awesome teaser trailer and was a pile of hokum in reality.

I've said before that Rylance, to me, has been getting (way) too much praise for several decent but incomplete performances for an actor of his stature - Waiting For The Barbarians, Chicago 7 - or worse imo Don't Look Up - but he's better in The Outfit and Phantom of the Open and he has several roles all in a row (?) which tap into his "on the fringes of horror" acting persona on stage and hinted at in other movies (Angels & Insects)......including this, and the Malick, and Bones and All.
When he has that spark of madness or something evil he can tap into he shows what he always shows on stage - he's mischievious and playful af on stage and it's a great quality for an actor to have and to transfer into movies....
This trailer has elements of Without Name (2016) actually but with more emphasis on narrative it seems which is most welcome indeed......

More horror movies need to make extensive use of Mark Rylance and Kathryn Hunter. Absolutely. That should be a rule for most talented actors.... not to mention the ones suited to the genre like Oldman, Irons, Malkovich... they've only done like one horror! Rylance is ridiculously talented (I've seen him on stage) but we're still waiting for his screen perfs to really prove that. He's been good a few times and experimental/daring (Intimacy, Institute Benjamenta) but we're at like eight lightweight perfs in a row since his Oscar win. So hopefully this and Bones And All....lets him deliver some darker deeper wattage. Kathryn Hunter with that magma meter and sprite size...perfect for horror. And her unique abilities....... she has The Front Room (A24, Robert Eggers twin bros directing) which just wrapped and I saw a bit of footage and our girl is contorting again! Hearing great things about her from that set.
