As I said elsewhere, I could see him changing his mind if Twin Peaks makes great business since it'd likely revitalize interest in Lynch's work in general.

I'd pay good money to see all those new Twin Peaks episodes on the big screen.

As long as he continues with television, it's okay.

I mean I'd assume he had retired from films years ago. Good on him, hopefully he's successful in television, and manages to do at least one more TV show after the Twin-Peaks revival.

I hope he changes his mind, because this is exceedingly depressing news.

I don't know why people are surprised by this or why it's "news". He hasn't put out a feature in more than a decade. I've assumed he was done for the past few years.

Yeah, but the fan in you wants to never say never. Until he did. Maybe it will be a Miyazaki deal. Every time he retires, you know that another movie is two years away.

I think he really means it and that makes me sad.

I'd be inclined to believe him more so than a lot of others who have made similar statements.

We shouldn't be greedy. We're getting 18 hours of David Lynch madness this year, within his most beloved universe no less. Honestly, where can he go in the cinematic medium beyond what he did in Mulholland Dr. and Inland Empire? He basically broke the form completely. I also think his filmography is perfectly bookended by his two weirdest movies. Let's just hope season 3 of Twin Peaks is amazing (we're at least guaranteed that it will be "David Lynch As Fuck") and the man can retire on a high note.
