Can someone explain why people continue to support someone who has no integrity whatsoever. None. Because of tax cuts. Wealthy people really don't care - they exist on a grid apart from the "real world." Evangelicals only proved themselves to be the egregious hypocrites they've always been.

1). We live in an age of progression, and people who are conservative are terrified of that. Conservative Evangelicals in particular, who don’t want to acknowledge that we don’t exist in a bubble, and that we have numerous religions (or lack there of) who can peacefully do-exist. But being they make up the religious majority of the country, they try to force those beliefs on others.
2). He was much more lenient on big corporations. Not that Biden’s perfect, but between heavy hitters like the coal industry and the NRA (who would be crippled by clean energy and stricter gun control), Trump’s more popular among them.
3). Because of his America first attitude, which, let’s face it, we cannot indulge anymore. America isn’t the center of the universe. Nothing we do happens in a bubble. We’re a global network of neighbors, and what we do affects the others. Ukraine for example, where American soldiers are being detained by the Kremlin, and now reports are out that those Americans “probably won’t be spared from execution.” Someone would turn the argument into “Well, why were we in Ukraine in the first place?” Because there’s such a thing as a ripple effect. Things may start at Ukraine for Putin, but that could only be a stepping stone. His reach can easily spread, and if he’s bold enough (and after Trump’s inexplicable friendship with him, there’s no reason to think he’s not), the US could very well be a target. That’s why this needs to stop at Ukraine, but others won’t see it that way. They’ll see it as “We’re not even fighting four ourselves anymore.” We are. Because we’re connected, and we need to co-exist, because we can’t go it alone and not have allies.
4). Also the usual bigots for no good reason, but who cares about them.

Well, I'll be damned if I know, I didn't vote for him - or Biden .....but it's because people find Trump "real" or some bullshit I guess.......still......they just laugh off the lies He'll be remembered as a landmark figure in American politics - if he's not already - especially if the GOP wins in 2024 - though I don't think Trump could win in 2024 himself - but DeSantis could .........and plenty of people who never voted for Trump will gladly vote for him whenever he runs - in 2024 or later........and he is a total Trump 2.0 in some ways but without Trump's baggage - a military background, a lawyer, Ivy league, Governor of a key state, an attractive wife who beat cancer, he's 43, has school-age children etc. There is a blueprint now for how Republicans can win POTUS elections and that's all because of him .....and the candidates take his policies, defiance, and shed Trump's "bad aspects"......in about 140 days abortion is going to reverse, the Congress is going to flip - by a lot -.......... the Senate likely will go GOP, Biden will be challenged for the nomination, Republicans will declare immediately, Biden will be a lame duck who gets nothing through ........ ......it's going to be an ugly & awful period tbh....

Because he talks to people at their reading level. It really is as simple as that True but people are acting like they are in a cult. And why do people want to be a part of this cult? I think the people who believe in Trump are afraid that the script will get flip and they will lose power. They are afraid of all the people who have no power gaining the upper hand and putting them in their place.

He’s not fighting for them or giving them anything (aside from mild smugness). It’s a weird thing where people are making it so intrinsic to their identity.

I dont understand why they dont see that part. He hates the people who believe in his bullshit. He just uses them because he's a narc who craves attention.

Actually, nah .......this attempt to psychoanalyze the Trump voter is misiguided I think and misses a scarier and deeper and far more cynical "truth" : Trump tapped into a deep idea within his voters - and it's still out there - which is why the GOP Party nationally is so strong atm still even if DeSantis is the eventual nominee: He told them exactly the opposite of what we say is in this thread - I know from the outside it may be like he hates his voters, and sure he probably does but that matters LESS: ....... what he TOLD his voters - and what they responded to - was this below - the exact opposite ....... and it's something that the disenfranchised Republicans had long felt - I think ever since Obama /Biden campaigned against Mitt Romney ("he's gonna put you back in chains!"- what??? Romney will???) - and when Hillary called them " deplorables" in 2016......... Trump found the EXACT line for his voters to respond too - and its deeper than him hating them, it's them hating "you"- THAT is why people like him.....THAT is why the country is so deeply divided - he defined that line of division and you probably can't erase it and go back before it tbh - it's an awful and ugly strand he exploited...... Trump's quote: "They don't hate you because they hate me. They hate me because they hate you.

and when Hillary called them " deplorables" in 2016......... This was a quote in response to David Duke and the KKK officially endorsing Trump for President. I get that this quote really hurt her, but I do think context is key.

They hate me because they hate you.Howard stern has known trump for 25-30 years and said that he would be disgusted by his voters so i will take his word. I'm not talking about the people who voted for him the first time. I'm talking about the people who continue to stan for him after all his bullshit. What I saw on the 6th had everything to do with people who wanted to keep a person in power who wanted to dial us back to the " good old days".

I get that this quote really hurt her, but I do think context is key. Oh I know, and I'm not saying it was "true" in the larger Party sense either..........but that's what Trump sold them - and still does - and they were and are eager to keep buying it - it was never about whether he "liked" his voters - despite what Howard Stern says - if you want the guy who's known him 40 years and has it right imo it's Chris Christie. That whole "they hate me, because they hate you thing" is exactly why they think the election was a fake and Jan 6th holds nothing for them - they throw out the process because what he was really saying there was this "no matter who the Republican nominee is they will call him a racist, sexist, homophobe" because that's what they think of youHe threw all civility out the window .......it's the difference between saying the Unsaid Said and opening Pandora's Box tbh and also it's going to happen again - Ron DeSantis followers will wear Brandon shirts, DeSantis haters will wear Death-Santis shirts.........this didn't exist prior to Trump honestly - hard to go back

There were about half a dozen movies last year about snake-oil selling conmen. That wasn't a coincidence You could rant all day and all night about tapping into peoples fears and such, the cult of personality and all that, but essentially... He's basically pretending to be Bernie Sanders, but unlike the actual, apparently unelectable Bernie Sanders, he's the host of The Apprentice.

Can someone explain why people continue to support someone who has no integrity whatsoever. None. I'll take the bite of the apple. Here's why:
1. He's a celebrity and proclaims to be wealthy. Trump Tower is a landmark. His television show, The Apprentice, was one of the most talked about shows in the 2000s.
2. Trump speaks in simple, non-sophisticated terms. People feel he's talking to them, not above or below them.
3. Trump's staff did plenty of research on what makes the right-wing tick, and used their talking points memo found on Talk Radio.
That's pretty much it. While Trump is politically uninformed, he knows how to image himself as great. After he got the Republican nomination, the base rallied behind him.

On a related note, the only thing I like about him is he’s funny as fuck. I miss him on Twitter. He was one of the all-time best posters 😢
