I'm not sure how I feel about that overall.
I don't get Dark Tower vibes from it, but my hope is that they've thrown together a trailer to make it look more action packed than it actually plays out. I think Elba looks good in the role, but he just sounds a little more animated in his voice than I always imagined Roland. We didn't really see enough of McConaughey to get much of a grasp on how he's playing it, but that gives me hope that he won't be too present in the film, as the Man In Black as good a character as he is, isn't really one of those omnipresent villains. Jake looked decent I guess, but I wanted more.
I'm still holding out hopes for this, but this trailer hasn't raised them.

Elba looks dynamite. Perfectly captures Roland's stoicism, and even though I always envisioned Guy Pearce in The Proposition, Elba's rapidly cementing himself as a canonical gunslinger in my mind. McConaughey looks very good as well, although I do hope that we don't get too much of him, as the Man in Black's mysterious nature is crucial to his character. The kid who's playing Jake doesn't look too shabby. I love the aesthetic, even though I always hoped for someone to basically crib Sergio Leone's style for an adaptation. Roland's "reloading trick" looks awesome.
Basically hoping for a blitz marketing campaign from Sony from here on out.

yeeeeeah...never read the book but the premise always sounded hokey to me and this trailer definitely delivers the hokiness was the dialogue written by Nic Pizzolatto?? I'm getting "blue balls of the heart" PTSD flashbacks from some of those godawful lines.

Never read the books, but this is looking like it might be Suicide Squad: Part II in terms of disappointment with audiences.

I only read the first book, and it was pretty great. Very well written and plotted.
Based on this trailer...that all went out the window.

Trailer #2
Now that's a better trailer, but my worries for this haven't been at all alleviated by it.

Not all that familiar with the book series. I think this looks ok. Elba felt right for the role. McConaughey seem fine too. We'll see how it turns out (hopefully for the better?).

Looks overblown and cheesy. Oh well I might see it for Elba.

I really liked the first two books, and then King's ego got the better of him and he turned it into some MCU bullcrap. They turned to utter shit by the end.
So I have a different view of this than most fans. I think that it looks... well, hokey and Hollywoodized. But fine. A shame that the two most interesting characters appear to have been cut (a key part of what made the Gunslinger's tale special was that he learned to embrace his fellow gunslingers and they form a makeshift family), but oh well.

IMDb lists this as 95 minutes.
Either it's bad and at least it's only 90 minutes or it could have been good if only it weren't just 90 minutes.

I don't know if this will be outright terrible, but the trailers make it seem like it will one of the most bland, generic bores ever made.
