Can't believe this is only 9 days away. I'm gonna try to watch some spooky movies at the end of the month to get me in the mood because I'm not feeling it yet. Life is too stressful

this one's in my watchlist already but after seeing The Beyond last year and being disappointed, I'm kinda scared to watch another Fulci flick.

Loved this! One of the most accessible giallos I've seen....I think bc it sticks so close to Susan Scott (real name Nieves Navarro)....she's in every scene, I believe. And she's asked to do a lot of running around, all the while hilariously forthright. She's almost like a magazine-noshed Magnani. I think Midnight is better than High Heels too which is much messier. Both scripted by Ernesto Gastaldi (he was to the giallo what Jimmy Sangster was to Hammer?) but Midnight had Sergio Corbucci's hands on the story and he was usually quite great at structuring them.

Scott is so bewitching. Such a great giallo, and I'd agree one of the more accessible ones.

What a gem. Alton's eye is amazing...especially his use of foreground/background, and all that haunting haze and those unique angles imparting the otherworld. Of course from the woman who wrote My Name Is Julia Ross a few years earlier - both feature leading ladies whose realities are obfuscated by conmen. I was reminded of The Ghost of Sierra de Cobre (1964, on Tubi!) w/ Martin Landau - in that they have b-movie plots, utilizing coastal supernatural, but soar up the genre grade bc of their visuals (Cobre was shot by Conrad Hall).

Angst is a personal favorite. An unflinching film whose use of internal monologue and frenetic camerawork completely subsumes the viewer into the killer's POV. Really effective and surprising stuff.
Celia sounds super interesting. Watchlisted!
