This is really fucking good so far. Star Wars with a touch of John Wick (especially in that second episode) is so entertaining to watch. McGregor, obviously, is champion in it, and despite Obi-Wan’s stoic nature, you can see how much joy he feels getting to come back. But Vivien Lyra Blair, his younger co-star, gets particular scene stealer status.

A lot of thoughts on Obi-Wan, but 3 that were on the forefront of my mind in just the first 2 eps: 1. Why does Tatooine look so washed out? What happened to the gorgeous yellows and reds? It gave the setting heat and a visual vibrancy that has been completely taken away. 2. Ewan McGregor is a wonderfully smart actor. He always conceptualized his Obi-Wan as being someone to grow into Alec Guinness' iconic portrayal, and he stays in lockstep with that concept. Wonderful, wonderful work. 3. Really, we're gonna have Leia in this right from the jump? It reeks of a lack of imagination to lean so much on the Skywalker saga, especially so early. Plus, doesn't this retcon Leia's message to Obi-Wan in the original? Not a fan of the first 2 episodes. Dramatic sequencing is haphazard and The Volume went from a cool digital tool to a crutch that limits camera placement. Will keep watching because of McGregor and the second episode ending on the best (only?) dramatic moment so far.
