I ask because he's an interesting figure. Arguably the highlight of the young actors on Friday Night Lights (certainly the most iconic performance, as Tim Riggins) which included people like Jesse Plemons and Michael B. Jordan in memorable roles. But John Carter was an epic flop, Battleship got terrible reviews (despite being a fairly entertaining Michael Bay ripoff), Savages got middling reviews despite being the best thing Oliver Stone has done since parts of Natural Born Killers (IMO) and Kitsch/ATJ/Hayek/Benicio being good in it (and probably Lively too, though I can't quite remember in her case), and Lone Survivor didn't make much of a splash. Yet he pivoted to TV, and found some success. True Detective S2 has a mixed reception, but alot of people liked it and thought he was perfectly fine in it, myself included. Waco, with Michael Shannon, got pretty uniformly positive reviews for Kitsch; alot of "Wow, he's really good" type responses. He's good in The Defeated, acting with people like Nina Hoss. It's starting to look like his 2012 was just rotten luck. I think if Jamie Dornan can almost get an Oscar nomination after being widely derided circa 50 Shades and then slowly rising in esteem with The Fall, that Barb and Star thingy, and then Belfast, it's a fair question.

I should vote yes because never say never. Like I would have never thought Mo’Nique would be one of the Best Supporting Actor winners ever or that Sylvester Stallone would be nominated again.
I went with no though. He might, but there’s so much competition and he’s probably not even in the top 50 actors considered when something big comes up. Maybe if he can make friends with someone who does or has made something Oscar has liked, he has a chance that way, but as far as I know he doesn’t have anything like that going for him.

I'm rooting for him. After that 2012 disaster he didn't give up, and I admire that.

Maybe an Emmy. Stranger things had happened. But his prime ended.
Not even people around his age with a much better and succesful career like the CHRISES are Oscar nominated actors. And its hard for them, more Harper its for him.

Can't see it. Kitsch feels similar to Timothy Olyphant, in that they'll only ever make a major mark on TV.

I’ll always think it’s possible for any actor to win an Oscar under the perfect storm of right circumstances but if you are asking me if I think it will happen with Kitsch, my answer is no. I like him though and am certainly rooting for his career to get back on track, even if he stays in the TV medium.

Anything's possible. His Koresh was phenomenal, so he's got the chops for it. He just needs the role.
