Will Smith deserves this. It might be cliched to say, but he was giving an excellent movie star turn in King Richard. Wonder if BAFTA will throw all their weight behind Cumberbatch now or actually give it to Smith. Hmmm.... Could see it going either way honestly. Feels like one of those races that will be decided by a couple of votes. |

Michael Keaton is a SAG trophy magnet (ironically, except for the performance he most deserved it for). He had the best moment of the night. Being late because he was in the bathroom, doing a stunt to get on stage, and then the end of that speech bringing everyone to tears. IMO, one of the few genuine moments in a speech. |

If Cumberbatch wins BAFTA, we go into Oscar night in the same position as last year, and it will be an interesting one for sure. Cumberbatch is weaker than Hopkins, but Smith is weaker than Boseman. |

Power of the Dog got blanked tonight. Everytime make one of these posts, the opposite always happens lol, but maybe there weakness there with it losing the USC Scripter Award too. Probably not, but I want another exciting night like tonight, and not a big sweep especially if they do go through with the changes that they want during the Oscar ceremony. |

Now that Kidman has been exposed as a FRADULENT frontrunner, I really think the stage could be set for Stewart to pull the ULTIMATE UPSET at the Oscars. Don't get me wrong, I'd take Chastain over Kidman too, and her chances just got a huge boost, but would Stewart be the first Lead Actress Oscar winner without SAG or BAFTA noms in the post-SAG era?? That's quite a narrative. Plus, it would be historic to have TWO LGBTQ women winning in the same night. I'm not saying it's for sure happening, but people are seriously underestimating the likelihood of it.

I always thought Kidman had a solid chance of losing here. I was just leaning towards Gaga as the one most likely to do it, due to the popularity of her film (nominations for Leto and cast) and residue sympathy for the Oscar snub. Chastain certainly makes things spicier in terms of the race itself, but I feel like Kidman's film probably has stronger support within the Academy. So again, who knows. Colman was being pushed as the new favorite to win in many circles, but surely this must realistically put her on life-support. She can't win anything meaningful now (I don't think critics choice will matter this year, and that might still go to Stewart). What a clusterfuck |

Always felt Kodi was in danger here. He really makes no sense as a frontrunner.. his age, the role itself.. it just didn’t compute. I went with it because he was winning everything, but it never felt right. It’ll be interesting to see what happens from here on out because I can see Kotsur having a Youn like run the rest of the way, especially with the film winning ensemble, but Power of the Dog being a strong frontrunner for BP will keep it close.
I think Kidman is on life support at this point ftw. She’s SAG royalty, the film itself is SAG catnip to a tee. Really hard to image her winning the Oscar without SAG under the circumstances. As for the race overall, I think it’s eerily similar to last years race where Andra Day and Viola almost certainly split votes, causing both to lose. I’m tempted to go with Colman, especially with the Buckley nom and the surprise USC scripter win but the BAFTA snub and the fact that she’s likely winning nothing leading up to the Oscars makes me hesitant.
Supporting Actress is a done deal. For Will Smith, the only thing left to see is if BAFTA will leave a bit of suspense or if he sweeps. I think the latter is definitely possible, he will probably at least tie at CC.
