And now to kick-off the top half of the list... 25.Enjoyed it a lot. Sure, it's straightforward biopic but the story itself is fascinating enough and the lead characters are both interesting. ~ thomasjerome with 124 points from 9 voters JUDAS AND THE BLACK MESSIAH 24.The experience of it is completely spellbinding and haunting like no other. I truly felt like I was in paralysis as the credits rolled. ~ DeepArcher with 127 points from 8 voters MEMORIA 23.So the film forces us to question our moral standing. Whether one good deed absolves a man of his lifetime of tricks, or if that lifetime of tricks justifies always seeing a man as incapable of change. ~ Ryan_MYeah with 131 points from 9 voters A HERO

22.The astonishing technique, the sheer density of the on-screen details and the humor of it all turned my smile on right from the get-go and didn't let it slip away right till the very end. ~ JangoB with 143 points from 12 voters THE FRENCH DISPATCH 21.It's a resoundingly singular work that could only be sprung from the imagination of a madman, the sort of thing that's increasingly becoming a rarity, but here, plays as a puzzling, unnerving, astonishing triumph. ~ DeepArcher with 160 points from 11 voters ANNETTE 20.It's certainly one of the only 2021 films that's actually made me think. ~ Viced with 162 points from 10 voters BENEDETTA

19.Lovely little movie. ~ Pittsnogle_Goggins with 165 points from 16 voters C’MON C’MON 18.The acting is fantastic across the board and I think the most impressive thing is that despite it's one shot gimmick, the camera never takes the spotlight from the story and characters, so the film doesn't feel at all artificial and everything flows fluidly and naturally. ~ themoviesinner with 166 points from 14 voters BOILING POINT 17.The cinematography, set design, costuming, and jazz-inflected score all meld together into a rich, warm tapestry - Sandringham is at once both inviting and austere - it's a magnificent prison, indeed. ~ @tyler with 175 points from 16 voters SPENCER

Looking at the first 27 films, I don't have much to complain about. Pretty good so far, only hiccup is The Suicide Squad, which has no business on this list. Other than that I really wanted Zeros And Ones to make it on here, but I'm not surprised it didn't. More people on here should give it a watch.

Flee is robbed.
And Belle should be on the list of worst films of the year.

16.Really beautiful and soulful film. ~ Pittsnogle_Goggins with 177 points from 13 voters PIG 15.Full of surprises and callbacks. A superhero fan's wet dream. ~ Pavan with 179 points from 10 voters SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME 14.It's just a very sweet and simple compassionate little movie, like being hugged for 70 straight minutes. ~ Tommen_Saperstein with 193 points from 14 voters PETITE MAMAN

13.Certainly, it does not waste any time blurring the line between eroticism and violence. And yet, this film also has an almost childlike heart to it that is probably the most potent weapon in its arsenal. ~ stephen with 203 points from 14 voters TITANE 12.Terrific movie, wonderful craftsmanship, very strong cast. I found it nothing less than joyful to watch a movie that told its story gradually and gracefully and steadily. ~ JangoB with 231 points from 18 voters NIGHTMARE ALLEY 11.Maybe it isn’t the Best Picture of the year, but it’s one of them and no far cry why Academy voters chose it—the most emotionally moving, easy-to-recommend movie of the year, lifted to funny, felt, refreshing heights by the unprecedented deaf ensemble and its star Emilia Jones. ~ Mattsby with 234 points from 18 voters CODA

I am still really on the fence about Titane. I want to see it but it seems really violent.

10.Was completely transfixed by this. Like I barely understood a line of dialogue, but just the way the god-tier acting/cinematography/production design/sound design/score worked together to just capture my attention with something I feel like I haven't really seen before, was just amazing. ~ mhynson27 with 252 points from 19 voters THE TRAGEDY OF MACBETH

7.It’s the movie of the year bc it doesn’t have to spell out its digs, an America on donuts and fumes, the achiever as self-pitching bullshitter on caffeinated charm and nearly aged out looks, with Simon Rex (in the most clever casting of the year) giving the performance of the year, an original and hilarious and bombinating turn perfectly given to Sean Baker’s scenario and 16mm guerilla-made mode. ~ Mattsby with 320 points from 22 voters RED ROCKET
