Absolutely delighted beyond measure that Jessie Buckley is finally an Oscar nominee, and that The Worst Person in the World got a screenwriting nomination. Also laughing my ass off at the Sorkin miss.
Really sad about Negga and Balfe, and Leto's snub has left me inconsolable. Gaga missing, as much as I hated it, shows that there might yet be more room for a shitshow ahead, especially if SAG decides not to go for Kidman and boost another contender in the race.

You basically took the words out of my mouth except the Leto's part. Were you genuinely rooting for him?

Best Noms 1. Drive My Car getting BP, BD and Best Adapted Screenplay. One of the best filmmakers working today getting nominated for such an unconventional and beautiful piece of work. I could cry. 2. The Power of the Dog somehow overperforming and cementing itself as our probable frontrunner. 3. Cruz getting nominated for her beautiful work.

You basically took the words out of my mouth except the Leto's part. Were you genuinely rooting for him? Genuinely. I loved that performance, as ridiculous as it was. I really can't share that enthusiasm for his performance and honestly think his Razzie nom is well deserved. But the upside for you is that you will never see him being repeatedly ridiculed on those "Performances that were both Oscar and Razzie nominated" lists. Unlike Glenn Close for Hillbilly Elegy.

Favourites:
. The sheer amount of love for Drive My Car. Two days ago I thought the most it could get besides Int. Feat was screenplay. Is a very gentle film that can easily wins you over. Nice to see the screenwriters following the directors' branch steps ! (Drive My Car + Worst Person in the World ) . Penélope Cruz. When was the last time something like this happened ? Rampling in 45 Years ? . Flee becoming the first film with that triple stat. . Even though they were pretty much locked: Kodi, Cumby, Ariana, Aunjanue, Denzel . Paralell Mothers in score
Least Fav: Any nomination for Don't Look Up/Encanto Summer of Soul
Conflicted about: JK Simmons was the best thing about his film but his nom along with Bardem only make a stronger case for a Kidman win, right ? Kirsten Dunst. Love her but she getting depressed and drunk was painful to watch Jessie Buckley. Love her but seeing her reduce to Hallmark scenes was painful to watch
Fav snub: Leto/Balfe. Belfast for cinematography Least fav snub: Gaga/Negga I guess.

Fave Noms Dune, Licorice Pizza, and particularly Drive My Car in Pic. Spielberg. Colman, Kodi, Hinds, Dench, Simmons. Dune and Lost Daughter in Adapted Screenplay. The Flee Triple. Greenwood. The entire Production Design lineup. KAMINSKI!
Least Fave Noms Chastain, Stewart. Garfield, Bardem. The entire Original Screenplay lineup except for Licorice Pizza. CODA screenplay. Raya and the Last Dragon. The Eyes of Tammy Faye in hair and makeup. Tick Tick Boom in editing... There was a scene in that thing more headache-inducing than the one everyone laughs at in Bohemian Rhapsody, and he's usually great.
Fave Snubs Being the Ricardos missing picture, director, and especially screenplay. Tick Tick Boom missing picture and screenplay. Those two pretty fuckers missing for Belfast. Passing missing across the board.
Least Fave Snubs. I'm going to play fast and loose with the term 'snub' HAIM! Gaga, Reinsve. Leto, and to a lesser extent Affleck, Cooper and Faist. If Cow was eligible for Documentary then that too. French Dispatch just all over the place.

Drive My Car in picure and director as well as Stewart in actress. Everything else is secondary for me. Oh, also the fact that CODA got in for piture and screenplay was fantastic.
It wasn't really a snub, but I love the fact that Spider-Man didn't make it in picture. After the overwhelming reception I was a bit worried.
