Joel Coen getting smacked around today tbh Nightmare Alley is a great script not quite a "great" movie but a damn fine one and beats the 47 too -

Power of the Dog and Lost Daughter (and maybe Drive my Car) are taking spaces. The only one of that adapted lineup that I think is completely safe is CODA.

BOOM! is obviously going to be tossed out, then Nightmare Alley has the more traditional award material while Dune has the buzzier movie. I don't think they'll snub Kushner unless WSS really sinks.

I've been pegging Tick Tick Boom as a sleeper contender for awhile. Critics and audiences loved it, it's LMM's big directorial debut with a highly energetic and charismatic (allegedly ) lead performance. It's probably heading for a BP nom and it's in contention for editing and sound too. With the field being so crowded what with Power of the Dog and Lost Daughters being ineligible (and then you have Drive My Car as another sleeper contender), I could see it miss but I wouldn't be surprised at all if it gets in. Even over West Side Story or Dune. People love it.

Don't Look Up got that WGA nom. Next step? Lol There's an obvious thread to be made about who has been helped today - and yeah I'd make it but I can't do everything around here - geesh - the most DiCap or Bardem for the 5th spot .........is Kidman pulling Bardem or is DiCap well you know doing that thing he always does and being an awards beast..........when McKay gets that DGA nod - and um, he will (um) - people are going to have to decide how important DiCap's SAG miss "really" is / was. DLU is showing up in BP at the Oscars.........I still could see BtR missing .......usually a couple PGAs do miss .....

I actively dislike that original screenplay lineup.
Except Licorice Pizza. That can stay
