Jacques Audiard has now been Cesar nominated for Screenplay for all nine of his directed movies, tho it's his first Director miss since his debut.

I've only seen a few of these - I liked Black Box which got five noms, Mandibles was bizarre and pretty funny - but they nom Adele Exarchopoulos?? who gives the most grating perf of her career (deliberately but still)...... in a category missing Camille Cottin in Stillwater (snubbed all over) and Rampling.

Seventy-five movies and shows coming up. She's all over the place and truly will be fighting for English-language GOAT actress soon if she isn't already and the only overall actress who might be out of reach is the one bestowing her this award, her The Maids costar (Where they were brilliant together).

This is a cynical take, but I kind of suspect Blanchett (or more specifically her "team") lobby these organisations to present her Honorary awards (for example I think she mainly got the newly invented Goya Award because Pedro Almodovar is working with her next and he can easily make that kind of thing happen. It's good promotion for their film for Spanish audiences). It's a bit of quid pro quo.

It's just a bit too strategic and calculated that she is basically getting a bunch of "lifetime achievement " awards from various award bodies at 52 within the space of a few months. It's not spaced out enough to feel organic. It's a planned assuault :laugh:

. But Blanchett's "brand" has always been about prestige and "awards" (and the big one in Oscar). Except outside of AACTA in her native Australia, she hasn't won a major competitive acting award in a long while. And she's had the longest Oscar nomination drought of her career (7 years since her her last nod for Carol). So her brand was kind of suffering on that front.

When your brand is about awards and you haven’t won any for a long time and haven't been nominated for the biggest one in a long time, a smart management team will put the feelers out to organisations to give you things you can "win" (without the pesky annoyance of "competition ") to keep the brand going.

Also, it must be a bit odd for Blanchett to see Nicole Kidman overtake her since her last Oscar nod as Australia's biggest and most consistent awards horse in competitive terms (Emmy & Golden Globe wins, multiple Oscar nods and potentially another win). Kidman's "brand" isn't specifically tied to awards like it is for Blanchett, yet she's become the dominant Australian awards player on the world stage in recent years
