Lets talk about Being the Ricardos (BTR). Nicole Kidman is the favorite to win Best Actress. Javier Bardem's SAG nominations puts him as a serious contender for one of the top five Best Actor slots.
THE MAJOR AWARDS RECOGNITION SO FAR
Best Actress (Nicole Kidman) - Won the Globe. Nominated for Critics Choice and SAG. Best Actor (Javier Bardem) - Nominated for Globe and SAG. Best Original Screenplay - Nominated for Globe and Critics Choice. Best Supporting Actor (JK Simmons) - Nominated for Critics Choice. Best Picture - BAFTA Long list. Best Production Design - BAFTA Long list. Best Costume Design - BAFTA Long list. Best Original Score - BAFTA Long list.
My question for discussing are the following: Do you think Nicole Kidman will win Best Actress? Does Bardem and Simmons get an acting nomination? Do you think BTR gets nominated for Best Picture?

Actress and Screenplay feel pretty certain now, and I think it's at least borderline for Picture and Actor.

Actress and Screenplay - which pains me to say because Kidman isn't in my top 10 and the screenplay I sure didn't love either I think Cage (longshot I know) or DiCap knock Bardem out and this is about 11th/12th/13th in BP right now imo ..............and too many other choices in Supporting for BtR to get in there I'm guessing........ BtR is the anti- TToM - BtR could over perform because it's a safe piece of product as opposed to TToM which could overperform because it's (mostly) quite good and artistically worthy across several categories. Or they might both underperform if their stars don't pull them along....  It is fascinating because actress essentially comes down to how much each star can drag their picture along with specifically - like I said in the other thread - Does screenplay for BtR "equal" a BP nod for HoG? That question along with who wins SAG/BAFTA is the whole BA race (over)simplified.... |

I just have to accept that Kidman will be nominated and probably even win for this. But I hope, really really hope, that they won’t nominate Bardem and Sorkin, now THAT would be ludicrous.
