Is this Denzel's first win of the season?
Also, I'd be perfectly happy if those were our Oscar winners.

What does he have like 3 or 4 critics circle prizes? I loved Licorice Pizza, and the movie would have been great even without him. Those 7 minutes were really great and a great bonus for me. I can't get over Cooper holding the lighter at the gas station scene. Excellent usage of dark humor.

Is this Denzel's first win of the season? Yes. I don't think it's a coincidence that his film finally got it's wide release on streaming this weekend for him to achieve that either. People are finally seeing The Tragedy Of Macbeth and realising how great he is as Macbeth (probably the best performance onscreen of the role ever ) and I guess some critics groups like Toronto are now smart enough (or opportunistic enough) to jump on the potential bandwagon of him in the winners circle, as opposed to seeing him as a filler option that he's appeared to be with them for the season till this point. They needed everyone else to see the performance as well. It really is about timing. We'll see, but maybe A24 and AppleTV have timed the release just right for Denzel. He's got maximum exposure now, while promoting his film, right as voters need reminding whom to vote for. The Colman thing is interesting. I wonder how many critics groups are now jumping off the Stewart bandwagon now that her likelihood of winning the Oscar looks to be over.

I meant the acting winners, but honestly, if the Academy decided to recognize Drive My Car in Best Picture, that'd be pretty neat. I don't love the movie but that'd be such a cool choice for them.

Yeah, he has been winning a lot of them as of late. People are saying F his screen time. I agree. I don't think it is fair to punish screen time for any actor. In fact, small roles are pretty difficult. You have so little time to develop the character and their arc. Cooper came in near the 3rd act, and chewed the scenes. Not exactly a positive portrait of Jon Peters. LOL.
Best Supporting Actor/Actress are suppose to go toward small roles like Cooper, Tom Wilkinson in Michael Clayton, or Dench in Shakespeare or Rudy Dee in Gangster, or Holly Hunter from The Firm. All too often we see people like Brad Pitt in Once a Upon A Time or Ali for Green Book getting in for supporting, even though they were actually leads, co-leads at that.
