Pretty straightforward question. Here is how the Supporting Actor looks like:
TIER ONE
Kodi Smit-McPhee - Nominated at the Critics Choice and SAG. Won the NY, LA, and Globe trophies. Troy Kotsur - Nominated at Globe, Critics Choice, and 2 SAG nominations.
TIER TWO
Jared Leto - Nominated at Critics Choice and 2 SAG nominations. Ciaran Hinds - Nominated for a Globe, Critics Choice, and an ensemble SAG nomination. Won the NBR award.
Jamie Dornan - Nominated for a Globe, Critics Choice, and an ensemble SAG nomination.
Ben Affleck - Nominated at Globes and SAG.
TIER THREE Bradley Cooper - SAG nomination. JK Simmons - Critics Choice nomination. Anders Danielson Lie - NSFC win. Vincent Lindon - LA win.
Do you think Jamie Dornan being associated with 50 Shades of Grey and "bad acting" is hurting his chances?

Since there will definitely be a couple out of left field noms this certainly could be a category where it happens so I don’t think both will make it. Keeping Hinds in my predictions for now.
Also, shouldn’t there be a None option?

It feels similar to Spotlight to me. I know Ruffalo and Keaton missed the Globes, but both are higher profile and/or respected in Hollywood than Dornan and Hinds. Plus Keaton won NYFCC in leading, and imo Spotlight wasn’t a Globes type of film like I thought Belfast would be. Plus both Spotlight and Belfast, if it wins of course, seem to be lucky to be competing in weaker years. With Spotlight I did expect both actors to get in where they didn’t, but it still won. I have the same feeling with Belfast, and it could still win. However, my brain isn’t really thinking about that possibility, instead it’s focusing on the negative that both Belfast actors should have been in at SAG if it was that strong especially when pundits were saying that even Jude Hill was going to get a nomination. Plus maybe it’s just me, but I feel like 2015 was much stronger in Best Supporting Actor than this year. Anyhow I think Dornan misses now. He really should have gotten in at SAG over Affleck!, Cooper since Licorice Pizza was not a SAG film at all, and Leto. Now I think Smit-McPhee, Hinds, and Kotsur are safe while Affleck, Cooper, and Leto fight over the last two spots with Dornan being seventh or lower.

I see Hinds replacing Affleck (who likely will be the lone nominee for his film)compared to Cooper or Leto.
Affleck also did not make the BAFTA long list.

Not sure about that tier list. I'd say Cooper is ahead of both Dornan and Affleck.

I think only the one gets in. Hinds has the most momentum, so I'll pick him.

Although Jamie Dornan's PR rep is certainly earning his or her fee right now, I expect Hinds to get the nomination because of the love for his film as well as the fact he's worked with pretty much everyone over his long career. Personally I wouldn't nominate either .

Voting for Hinds because he's in a movie this year is so AMPAS and BAFTA.

ever since seeing Belfast a couple months ago, I've been saying just Hinds. Dornan's role isn't challenging or particularly memorable. He doesn't have any big emotional moments in a movie that's very emotional.
