It can be any category not just these but let's face it some of the things you have to have in your picks have to be stuff you kind of dislike - this year is (again) strange so with that in mind:
Best Picture - The Tragedy of Macbeth - This still may get in - but I have it out atm around 11th or 12th - and if it misses that's the "Denzel Filmography Curse" - 8 of his 9 Oscar nominations would be for non-BP movies - which is something impressive for him but clearly is kind of indicative of his (not great) filmography.
To have this miss - maybe the best movie Washington's ever been in (arguable) - with this pedigree behind and in front of the camera - THIS strong in techs - and when DLU at least and maybe HoG will likely make it is a headscratcher especially in a field of TEN. 93%-94% on RT ............88% Metacritic .........don't tell me there's not a Shakespeare bias........
Best Actress - Penelope Cruz - Parallel Mothers - My number 1 of the year - previous winner no less - should be stamping through this category in a victory lap of awards attention ........and yet..........she's maybe ..........6th at absolute best ............sigh
Best Actor - Simon Rex - Red Rocket - I have him 2nd behind Cumby .........shout-out to Phoenix, my 3rd - also getting royally screwed in 2021
Best Supporting Actress - Martha Plimpton - Mass - To me she's the best performance in the cast - by a good bit too - in a movie everybody talks about "the acting" in it first and foremost......she doesn't seem to be on anybody's radar at all

It's Tessa Thompson and Penelope for me. Amazing performances that will probably be shafted in favor of some lazy biopic performances.

So far it's Jason Isaacs for Mass.

Anders Danielsen Lie in The Worst Person in the World. Should be sweeping Supporting.
I agree with the Macbeth and Cruz mentions too.

A lot of my current shortlist are in films the Academy would never acknowledge, but for the ones who had even a modicum of a shot: Cage, Rex, the Mass gang, Comer/Affleck, Hunter.

I'm just baffled that The Last Duel has no traction across the board (Picture, Director, Actress, Supporting Actor, Screenplay, many of the techs) when it feels like something the Academy *should* go for. ...I mean it might get 0 nominations at this point, right? Wtf.

Cooper Hoffman and cinematography for Licorice Pizza
BP and Pacino for House of Gucci
Basically everything for Last Duel, BP, director, screenplay, Affleck, editing.
