Also, The Green Knight getting blanked here is bullshit. It’s weird that it didn’t make the Oscar shortlist either. Did A24 just (predictably) drop the ball on campaigning it and ppl figured it was CGI instead of outstanding makeup? |

I do know that. What I’m miffed by is the makeup being the front runner. It’s my Suspiria of 2021, where everybody raves it, and I’m just not on board. I honestly found it kind of hokey and distracting (I could downright see the seams on his forehead at points). |

Question for everybody: Do you think Cruella and Coming 2 America are the favorites to win Best Makeup and Hair, or is Dune still the one to beat due to the Best Picture nomination? Cosidering that every Academy member is gonna vote here and not just the makeup people, I think anything can happen. Dune is certainly the biggest movie of the nominees and the biggest tech contender so if it sweeps the techs, a Makeup can easily slip in there. But I can just as easily see Tammy Faye win (it's the most obvious makeup job of the bunch) or House of Gucci or Cruella. Not really feeling Coming 2 America though - it wasn't big enough as a movie to get noticed by that many members plus stupid comedies don't usually win here although they're often nominated. I think overall it's a pretty open category without a proper favorite. |
