Looks like people here have lots of opinions on Nightmare Alley. So lets talk about it.
BEST PICTURE - Critics Choice nomination + AFI Top Ten honors BEST DIRECTOR - Critics Choice BEST CINEMATOGRAPHY - Critics Choice
BEST PRODUCTION DESIGN - Critics Choice BEST COSTUME DESIGN - Critics Choice
BEST HAIR AND MAKEUP - Critics Choice
That's six categories. Score, Sound, and Visual Effects didn't make the shortlist. Variety released a video of this year's Best Actor race, and they had Bradley Cooper mentioned 5th out of the 15 contenders. So I am adding him to the list.

I think its strongest bet is for production design. I'm currently predicting it for makeup and cinematography too but just barely, and I have it over Belfast for cinematography which is already being generous. I have it on the outside for costumes at 6 or 7 but I don't think there's any room for it there.
For picture it's somewhere in the 9-12 range but right now I'm not predicting it. It has solid reviews and people seem to like it but it's not getting in for screenplay or directing or acting and it's not the tech juggernaut it needs to be.

Ah, there was a time I thought this could be among the nominations leaders...And now it seems like it's won't get anything beyond a couple of techs.
I'm very confident in it for Production Design but I really don't know about anything else anymore...
I have it at #6 for Cinematography and Costumes so I think it can definitely make it there. Also Makeup does indeed sound like a solid possibility. And I do wonder where it is as far as the BP 10 goes. But so far I'm predicting a sole Production Design nomination for it. Which is a rare occurence so I'll think about it some more. Show me the guilds!

Just Production Design. MAYBE one of Costumes or Makeup/Hair. The fact that it missed a bunch of other shortlist shows that there isn't much passion for the film, even for the techs.
