Trying to get these all in, well before the Globes have their say.
Benedict Cumberbatch, Peter Dinklage, Andrew Garfield, Will Smith, and Denzel Washington landed both Golden Globe and Critics Choice nominations. Mahershala Ali for Swan Song, Javier Bardem for Being the Ricardos, Leonardo Dicaprio for Don't Look Up, Cooper Hoffman for Licorice Pizza, and Anthony Ramos for In the Heights received a Golden Globe nomination. Nicolas Cage for Pig donned a Critics Choice Best Actor nomination. Simon Rex for Red Rocket won the LA Film Critics best actor trophy. Other strong contenders here are Jude Hill for Belfast and Bradley Cooper for Nightmare Alley.
My vote is going: Cumberbatch, Garfield, Smith, Washington, and Dicaprio.
Do you think Dinklage is going to get a SAG nomination and an Oscar nomination? Apparently in his new film he does a lot of singing, and the screenplay was written by his wife.

Yeah, the Oscar 5.
Cumberbatch DiCaprio Garfield Smith Washington
I can see Dinklage replacing Washington here though.

Cage, Pig Will Smith, King Richard Benedict Cumberbatch, Power of the Dog Andrew Garfield, Tick Tick Boom (alt. Dinklage, Cyrano but there really should be more buzz)
For my 5th spot I was gonna go with Timo Chalamet, Dune to shock the nation but a young surprise would be Cooper Hoffman, wouldn't it? But then I just saw Joaquin in C'mon C'mon and if they would award him for Joker.....!
Leaving off Denzel bc I think the randomly selected voters hurts him the most ( he'll bop back with BAFTA? ).

Denzel has never missed a SAG nod - with each of his Oscar nods - since SAG awards have been given out. He is highly respected by his peers. I can't see him getting snubbed over Timothee Chalamet, Cooper Hoffman, Joaquin Phoenix.

Cumberbatch, DiCaprio, Garfield, Smith, Washington.
SAG's not nearly cool enough to go with Cage and Dinklage feels like he's ripe for being the snub, even as we're a few years removed from Game of Thrones and he doesn't feel like he'll sustain the love Cranston did in 2015, especially as his film missed shortlists that it by rights should've made it into.

I actually changed my mind about Dinklage for SAG. I just finished DLU, and thought to myself, yes, Dicaprio is in for at least for SAG.
What do you think about Dinklage's chance for Best Actor?

I think he's a somewhat distant #6.

I think he's a somewhat distant #6. I think Smith, Cumberbatch, and Garfield are locks here. It would truly shocking if SAG or BAFTA didn't nominate them. Their film and performances are getting too much attention to be ignored. Washington, Dicaprio, or Dinklage are going to slip into the final 2 spots.
Happy New Year my good man!

My prediction is:
1. Will Smith - King Richard: With the Golden Globe win, he's in the lead. 2. Andrew Garfield - Tick Tick... Boom!: He's riding a wave of success he's never had so far and his performance shows range and fierce thesp passion. It is pure awards catnip and if the movie somehow gets an Ensemble nomination... 3. Benedict Cumberbatch - The Power of The Dog: Of all the places where he's competitive, SAG is the one where he's very likely NOT in the Top 2. 4. Denzel Washington - The Tragedy of Macbeth: With any other actor, I would probably say "no way does this performance get nominated at SAG" (based on what we've heard) but it's Denzel. 5. Leonardo DiCaprio - Don't Look Up: It's the only star performance that works in that movie, and the movie itself has made too big of a splash during the holidays for me to think he misses.
1st alternate: Javier Bardem - Being The Ricardos: SAG will probably love this movie, and I actually think he's better than Kidman. 2nd alternate: Peter Dinklage - Cyrano: Admittedly, I haven't seen the movie but Garfield taking up most of the headlines for the male musical performance in the category doesn't help.
