I personally don’t think it has a chance at even sniffing the 10th BP slot but I’m reading a lot of “think pieces” now saying it’s a possibility.
So do you think it has any shot at it?

I would like to see it happen if they’re just going to use the last few spots for stuff like Don’t Look Up or Being the Ricardos, I believe NWH has a better critics score than those two movies as well as some other movies competing for the last spots, and at least people will remember NWH, well at least more than they will some of the Oscar bait that will get nominated or that comes close to being nominated. It’s probably not close to happening though because I feel this sort of thing happens almost every year like with Endgame and The Force Awakens. The closest it will probably get is a PGA nomination.

Not happening. Reminds me when The Force Awakens was breaking box office records and absolutely nothing came of that.

Don't care. It's not a good movie and vastly inferior to its two predecessors, so fuck it. 0 Oscar noms in a just world.

I think it may end up being closer than some people want, but I still think it ultimately misses. Looking likely for a PGA nom though.

I kinda want it to get a BP nom just for the reactions and discourse

Marvel movies are not really their thing. Even when Black Panther was nominated for best picture, it didn't get any acting, directing, writing, or editing nominations. The only reason why they would nominate it in the first place as a thank you for saving the art of cinema. It had what the 2nd or 3rd best opening of all-time, and already outgrossed films released in both 2020 and 2021.

I don't think it's gonna happen. They've tried this push before with Endgame and we know how that ended. And that was a huge culmination of a whole series of their films. I don't quite see this one doing any differently.
It can certainly get a PGA nomination because they like to include a non-prestige blockbuster that becomes a financial and pop culture hit (A Quiet Place, Wonder Woman, Deadpool, Star Trek) but AMPAS isn't really quite like that. I can't really imagine the Academy members going 'Oh, Spider-Man made so much money. I'm nominating it for BP!'. I actually think box office is a bit of an overrated thing when it comes to BP nominees predictions. Which is why I like how our forum operates - we do consider that aspect while predicting the nominees but we also (correctly) don't think of it as dealbreaker.

I kinda want it to get a BP nom just for the reactions and discourse I'd genuinely much rather see No Way Home, Shang-Chi or even No Time to Die being nominated for Best Picture rather than Don't Look Up or Being the Ricardos.

I think it's pretty obvious the reason why Black Panther was nominated was because it had an all black cast and it made a ton of money.

I haven't seen NWH and NTTD but amen to that! Don't Look Up is by far the worst movie of the year. An atrocious piece of crap! Hope it got many nominations at the Razzie!

PGA nom like Deadpool and Wonder Woman, but I don’t think it’ll end up happening.
