I have it hovering around the 9-10 spot right now. It could go up, but it could also drop off. The power of Denzel hasn't been very successful in this category (he only has appeared in two Best Picture nominees) and it is an esoteric arthouse film even with its Oscar-caliber trinity, and Apple/A24 aren't doing much right now to kick it into high gear.

Just on merit it's in the last half of the top 10 - and should get in - the beginning is absolutely amazing and the end is quite memorable ....... but it depends how many odd ducks slip in like Coda or Spencer or even House of Gucci can disrupt and round out that top 10 - I mean HoG is not dead in BP ........they need to have some hits in this field people.....  A lot of people on MAR will be baffled by ToM in the middle section and just need to stick with it....... The ominous bad signs are people who see this movie talk about the cinematography, production design and supporting actress who is barely in it ...... that's a sign people.....but with 10 nominees should sneak in I reckon....... |

Good point. It still has a decent shot at it, but like you said my main concern is how important is it to Apple/A24's Oacr campaign this year. |

Yes you're right. Movies like Coda, Spencer and House of Gucci are far from done here and any of them might be able to get in at the last minute. Macbeth could get in of course, but there are a handful of movies that could have the same shot as it going into the later part of December. We'll see how things turn out, but it would not surprise me either way to see it still be on the bubble a month from now.  |
