I don't "get" Cage, but Hoult really excels in these wild character-driven parts. I think he'll be great in this.

"The project is described as a modern-day adventure story that is comedic in tone." Don't forget this isn't a serious horror or anything - the screenwriter worked on some seasons of Community/Rick and Morty.
Shooting begins in January in New Orleans.

Btw. Not the first time Cage/Hoult worked together! Also...... don't forget the first movie Cage's production company developed and did was Shadow of the Vampire (2000). He was tempted to play Max Schreck but didn't.... to go with Dafoe. He may have wished he played it, though. Tone seems to be in the vein of Venom/Cruella, with a pinch of Nolan, pinch of Fincher. Exciting anyway. Cage steps a little closer to a full-on Christopher Lee phase.

Shohreh Aghdashloo (Chess of the Wind, House of Sand and Fog) has joined playing "one of the most feared crime lords in the city." Little side note - Cage in an interview last week was asked about the project and seemed a bit peeved by "constant rewrites."

I love the original Universal horror films and they’re some of the very first movies I fell in love with. This looks like it could be fun. It’s got a bit more of an action movie feel which I’m not enamored with but if this is played out a la What We Do in the Shadows then it’ll be a good time.

haha this looks incredible. Hoult is an amazing comedic actor and tonally this looks very Underworld's campy action meets self-aware undead hijinks of What We Do in the Shadows. Throwing in Cage as a thousand year-old vampire is the cherry on top.

Looks fun. Nicolaus is so cute. Could he play Bond? No. Don't get me wrong, I certainly find him attractive - but his look is incredibly boyish. As Schiggy has pointed out, Ed Skrein would be the more believable choice if you wanted to go this route. Also, I'm not entirely sure he could carry a film like Bond - he's shown time and again that his strengths lie in character-driven parts. He's very similar to Brad Pitt in that his looks belie his true calling as an actor.
