The thing about Zellwegger is that I don't know of anyone that has two Oscars, but both of them were received with a shrug by both audiences and critics, for movies that were pretty much forgotten immediately after. Cold Mountain particularly is a win that aged very poorly (and one of the worst of all time, IMO).
Waltz and Swank are different cases because they won both from acclaimed performances, their first wins specially. Waltz won two from two big box office hits, and so did Swank in her second, a BP-BD winner.

I despised that film as a whole (Judy). I wrote the most scathing review on my IG after I saw it. That movie made me so mad. They did everything wrong. Horrible flashbacks with a horrible young Judy. Completely missed the boat on the open-wounded magic she possessed in those later years as a performer (or maybe that was Renee's fault). They took one of the most interesting Hollywood figures ever and made such a borefest of a movie. How many times do you want to drum in our heads that her problems made her unreliable? And that dumb ending to cap it off. smh. Makes you wonder...has winning a Best Actress Oscar ever done less for a career than it has for Renee Zellweger in Judy? You'd expect it to catapult her right back to the top of the A-list. Big time directors fighting to cast her in their next big project. But it's mostly been crickets. No major casting announcements, no indication that big directors are back in the "Renee Zellweger business ". It's very strange. Really? Wow. No comeback. I always had a suspicion there was something going on behind-the-scenes with her all these years. Something seems off. Just a feeling, you know?

stephen - I definitely agree with your comments on Zellweger, and I'd add to them by saying that she'll be a permanent fixture in popular culture because of her iconic role of Bridget Jones.
