As of now, which nominations are you seeing for the film?
I'm going with...
PICTURE DIRECTOR ACTRESS ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY COSTUME DESIGN
The sky is the limit, really... If the Academy really goes crazy for the film (and they might), I'd expect the following, too:
CINEMATOGRAPHY EDITING HAIR AND MAKEUP ORIGINAL SCORE PRODUCTION DESIGN
And you?

Right now I have it down for Picture (a beneficiary of the locked-in ten slots), Actress, Original Screenplay, Costume Design and Score. I don't think I buy it as a Director contender as of yet and I feel the other categories might have flashier fare, but I do think Production Design, Makeup & Hairstyling and maybe Editing are on the table (and I guess with all that, Larrain could muscle his way in).
It still feels very much like it could go the way of Jackie, which a lot of people had high nomination expectations on and didn't quite live up in the end. There's also already starting to be backlash brewing, with articles coming out about people who knew Diana criticizing the film, but I don't think that will amount to much in the end, as Neon is a pretty good studio about navigating that sort of criticism.

stephen - A valid point, but I do think this film will appeal more to the Academy's tastes than Jackie, with its fable angle and by virtue of it being about the British Royal Family. Oscar is such an Anglophile.

Picture (I guess…), Actress, Costume Design, Makeup and Score. I think it’s #6 in Cinematography and a contender for Original Screenplay (Ugh) and Director.

Was the Anne Boleyn angle too absurdist for you? I'd love it if you'd post your thoughts on the film in the thread I started on the Movies board.

I’ve been hearing some Supporting Actor buzz. Think it has any shot?

I’ve been hearing some Supporting Actor buzz. Think it has any shot? I'd be shocked. If Stewart's performance does have coattails, I think Sally Hawkins in Supporting Actress would be the one to benefit.

So... the exact same as Jackie? Best Actress Best Costume Design Best Original Score Yeah, although I wouldn't be that surprised if it eventually only got Best Actress. The costume field is stacked and who knows whether the music branch will be so generous to Greenwood seeing how his nomination for Dog is all but assured...hopefully they will though.

Actress and score are sure fire nods, has a shot at costumes, cinematography, and PD. Very slim shot at slipping into the back of the BP lineup.

I am going with a Jackie repeat with Actress, Costume Design and Score. We really haven't seen anything crazy out of Spencer besides Stewart's recognition.

Kristen Stewart's performance is the key to the film's success. If Academy members have seen the film, they could bring among a picture or another acting nomination. Think The Blind Side or Crazy Heart, ironically both in the same year. I just think without an AFI, Globe, or Critics Choice Best Picture nomination, its odds of a something major, like picture, director, or screenplay are pretty low. But we will see.
