In preparation for the film, I did want to share this BBC documentary about the atomic bomb and its effects on Hiroshima, narrated by John Hurt - I think it's so well done.

I know it’s not exactly revelatory for actors to say nice things about their costars, but here’s some really high praise about Murphy from RDJ:

These Barbenheimer comparisons are doing all the marketing for Oppenheimer. I'm not complaining btw.

A lot of people i know are eagerly waiting here in India solely by Nolan's name. Hence the buzz but i'm afraid most of them will be disappointed if they're expecting an IMAX sized epic out of this one.

IMAX or not its basically a biopic and the bomb stuff will mostly come in the later parts of the film and the rest of the stuff will delve into Oppy's pysche and the pre-bomb shenanigans. The uninitiated (and the people i know) are be expecting a little more action in which case they will be disappointed.

I figured that's what you meant, I would just say that "IMAX-sized epic" is still an accurate description of it despite not being an action movie...

There’s a funny part of this interview where Damon mentions when Nolan first came to talk to him about doing the movie, and Nolan bumped into John Krasinski in Damon’s building (because they’re neighbors). Nolan apparently had Blunt already in mind for the movie, but didn’t want to see her on the same day because he didn’t want it to seem like he was just going to one apartment building to cast his movie like a one-stop shop. Another bit of the interview that I found interesting is when Damon says Nolan had planned to title the movie Oppenheimer from the start instead of American Prometheus because he wanted it to be from the character’s “subjective experience.” I suppose American Prometheus as a title suggests more of an outsider commentary that’s more removed.

He also says he heard mixed reactions for Barbie. I'm taking everything with a grain of salt till i see legit reactions.

sneiders tweet is weird since the social embargo for barbie drops 2 days before oppenheimers, so i didn’t really get the whole ‘loose lips sink ships’ thing. those kind of embargos should be taken with a grain of salt anyways since they almost always rave movies lol
anyways

I wonder what made Nolan go "i need extended scenes of nudity and sex" in a film about the man who created atomic bomb. I get that Opp had an affair with another woman but "extended nudity and sex" is making me so confused and also a little less interested.

God, if Nolan can bring back the sex scene, I'll be ready to crown him a saint.

I get that Opp had an affair with another woman but "extended nudity and sex" is making me so confused and also a little less interested. I'm sure those scenes won't be that extended since the MPAA rating reads "Rated R for some sexuality, nudity and language" which means there won't be a lot of it. I suppose the Guardian article is just trying to paint a more flamboyant picture of what we'll actually see. But anyway, why not have sex and nudity in a film about the man who created the atomic bomb? The movie will try to represent the guy's life and sex is a fairly big part of life! Although I'm sure that part of it is just Nolan wanting to break out of the people's image of him. "I'm not just into time paradoxes and IMAX shit, I can be carnal too!"

Like he is countering people's criticisms of him. Dunkirk being less on exposition and now Opp countering the sexless, Pg-13 criticism.
