There was no ceremony for the 2008 GG because of the Writer's Strike. HFPA announced the winners via a news conference. No stars.
And last year's show was stripped down because of COVID.
It will still garner attention in the media and be an Oscar precursor for the industry. The stars will still do interviews.
Nope, there was still TV coverage, now there won't, and the HPFA brand is toxic The nominations, winners will still be covered by the media. It will still be an Oscar precursor within the industry.
The general public likely have no clue or could care about the politics. Also, if it is truly irrelevant, why are people talking about it.
