I would have been in for this movie, if they just said "Directed by Ridley Scott", but the cast is just off the chart.
Jared Leto is unrecognizable in this film, and that's a good thing.
Do you think this is the new Best Picture front-runner? Acting nods for Driver, Gaga, and Leto? Ridley Scott finally wins Best Director?

I wish, but I think it’s just the opposite after the trailer. I mean I was predicting it to win Best Picture because I think it will be financially successful, and I think Academy Awards will go with something that makes money this year, but I was always hesitant because Scott doesn’t have the best track record and from what little was known about the film. After seeing the trailer, even if it does well both critically and commercially I think it would still be difficult because at least to me it seems over the tops and campy, and those kind of films never, as far as I know, never win Best Picture.
Of course the final film might be completely different as I’ve seen some people comment because the film isn’t completed yet, and for obvious reasons it makes sense to center the trailer around Lady Gaga because she’s the biggest star in it, and will get people talking. Just focusing on the other non-Gaga scenes though, I saw they do include Jeremy Irons’ character watching clips of his deceased wife I presume, Al Pacino’s character being taken to jail after, and other things like that, that aren’t connected with Gaga, so maybe it will be soapy/campy but still be taken seriously enough as a contender.
I don’t know because again Scott isn’t consistent. On the other hand, many contenders have been pushed back, or had problems of their own, and in a field of 10, maybe there’s room for it.

Yeah, not based on that trailer For someone as po-faced as Ridley Scott tends to be, it looks almost cheesy. Campy. I think it could be fun, but it doesn't feel like a BP frontrunner with this kind of marketing. Could be wrong though...stranger things have happened!

I don't know about frontrunner - that to me is Power of the Dog based on the awesomeness of the book and my assumption that Jane Campion shot the book just with slight emphasis on Dunst (I'm going with that)
But I think people are misrepresenting Gucci - first of all - this is the movie star movie of the year - if it's just good it's gonna be very big and very big matters a lot this year after last year crapping in the bucket stuff - I like Nomadland a lot - but this year is gonna be big stars in big movies because Hollywood is counting on that.
The trailer was to sell the stars - there's no way Driver is "supporting" in this movie when he's in a bajillion clips but not talking.........but he will......in the next trailer....
That trailer just told you it's funny, gorgeous and who the cast is .....and people ate that sh it up......talk to normal people about that trailer......they are dying for this movie.......but yeah not front runner atm

NOPE. Lower tier BP nominee at best.
What I believe for now are the top 4 most likely to win Best Picture (for now):
1. The Power of The Dog 2. Don't Look Up 3. The Tragedy of Macbeth 4. Belfast

Could be an American Hustle but basing on The Counselor and All the Money in the World, it seems like it will filter people again. Ridley is one of the most subversive directors.

There is no such thing as a front runner at this stage of the race.

It was my prediction, until the trailer came out. Definitely not the frontrunner, if we were to even have one this early out.
