If that was the finished product, this may be the greatest solo Kanye album other than MBDTF.

Idk why Marilyn Manson just vibing in the background during the last few seconds is so amusing to me but it is

IT’S OFFICIAL!
Donda is coming out in about 15 minutes.
Sounds like it’s a mix of LP2 and LP3, which is good news since Jay-Z is back on Jail. Hopefully Kid Cudi is kept on Moon.

"Come to Life" might be top 5 of Kanye's whole discography.

Trash. There's like 3 good songs. Only one that I’d say is trash is Tell the Vision, for obvious reasons.

I have to admit - I've been off the Kanye train / Rap music train since New Slaves and N***** in Paris .......Hey, what's Gucci Ye? Haven't heard the record, probably won't, too old, too many other records to hear, don't care.......don't let anybody kid you btw - getting old is great - you get to be oblivious to everythingBut.......discussion topic: What's worse to everyone? Kanye - a dismissive 6 / 10 from Pitchfork today OR The fact that Pitchfork has never - EVER - rated Rock artists like Brad Marino, Geoff Palmer (alone or in ANY of their bands together!), missed Kurt Baker's landmark Brand New Beat album entirely ........have also never rated - Lucy and The Rats, The Speedways (world's best Rock band atm, perhaps), Ike Reilly (!) or even current / trendy Rock acts that are entirely in their wheelhouse like Coach Party...... OR Pitchfork rated Lucy Dacus Home Video an enthusiastic 7.7, & Julien Baker Little Oblivions an enthusiastic 7.6 I'mmina let you finish but I'll just say.......like Simon & Garfunkel (or Evan Dando) once said ........ every way you look at it, you lose

I'm not surprised mainstream music outlets are largely dismissing this album. I think the industry was ready to embrace a return to form from Kanye but having DaBaby and Marilyn Manson* both at the third listening party and then on the album ruined that and put the focus away from the music. Not that Kanye seems to give much of a shit about that kind of stuff, though, and mainstream music criticism is largely irrelevant to how hip hop albums are evaluated by the fans (see Chance's The Big Day) who seem to be digging this album.
*Kanye absolutely deserves a ton of shit for associating with Marilyn Manson in any way at this time. DaBaby he also deserves criticism for, but Manson is just despicable. Especially worse that it's for a needless remix and Manson's part is just for some additional vocals in a chorus. An unnecessary moral lowlight on an album that otherwise has no other hang-ups.

Yeah a lot of these reviews are laughable, especially the one from the independent that gave it 0/5 stars.
I have no doubt that a couple of years from now, this will be regarded as a top tier Kanye album.

Considering this is an hour and forty minutes long not sure when I'm going to listen to it, have no enthusiasm. Kanye hasn't made a listenable album since Yeezus and that's nearly a decade ago now (yikes). Given the length this is likely a dirge with a few good songs sprinkled throughout. The Beatles made a "feature length" album work because they were at the top of their game at the time so it's almost all good. This is like if they reunited in the mid 70's when Paul was a soft rock wimp, John was a stay at home dad bored with music, and George was coked out and trying to make Indian funk and tried to make another sprawling double album.

I have no doubt that a couple of years from now, this will be regarded as a top tier Kanye album. I truly think if he didn't have "Jail, Pt. 2" and the third listening party was just him and the house until the finale that this would be widely hailed by mainstream critics as his best solo work since The Life of Pablo if not Yeezus. And like how it took a couple years for the initial divisiveness of those albums to settle before they were canonized in his discography, I expect the same of this one. Hell, just the fact that most reviews I'm seeing aren't even bringing up this serves as his divorce record despite it being pretty explicit on his deteriorating marriage on several songs is a big indication of the context these reviews are coming from. Which, to be fair, I get since Kanye has invited this on himself by refusing to resist the temptation of being an asshole in public but with time and him probably having some kind of about-face again, some of that sting will fade.

You weren’t a fan of Kids See Ghosts? I can't speak for countjohn but I fucking love Kids See Ghosts! Right from the 1at track with Kudi on the hook that shit goes hard af. And say what you want about Kanye's personal life and his past interviews over the years but the guy is such a talented/brilliant even music artist. Notice I didn't just label him as just a rapper. He has made so many great songs over the years and his production is usually on point for the most part. I haven't listened to Donda yet but I will get around to it later this week so I can pay attention to it. Also all the negative reviews from music critics make me want to listen to it even more

Fuck the critics, the haters and losers. I’ve been vocal in the past about how I’m not much of a rap fan and I don’t like modern music in general but this was a revelation
