Yeah, I almost forgot it came out too. Putting aside some slightness in the scripting, (and that twist I could see coming from a mile away) I still had fun with this movie. Definitely the MCU’s answer to movies like The Bourne Identity, driven by some stylish and precise action, and the cast is almost uniformly aces (Pugh and Harbour steal the fucking show).

I had sort of fun with it as well, but I thought it was very mediocre some nice and stylish action aside. The opening credits were really good, but the script was weak and the movie was overlong. Wasn't too big on the comic relief either.

Wasn't too big on the comic relief either. Maybe it was because it’s pretty cool here today, so the normal ac made me feel like I was in a freezer even with a jacket and long sleeved shirt, but I felt the movie was too long as well. Some fun stuff especially Pugh, and Harbour was sometimes entertaining for me, but then at times sort of cringe. Saw the twist coming a mile away too, but I did like how it was dealt with even though it was a good bet that would be how that problem was handled. I also really liked the end credits scene since I don’t think Natasha was given a proper send off in Endgame.

To be honest, I quite enjoyed this. Sure, it's nothing special, but it had some cool action and fun moments. It also helped that I have zero expectations from Marvel films these days. This is probably among the better ones. - 6/10

Not great, but one of the better ones post Phase 1. The big assets are that Johansson was always good as Black Widow and the action is a lot better and more understated. Very reminiscent of Bourne as others have noted. Weisz gives 100% as always too and is too good for the movie. A couple self aware moments with her getting called "the assassin little girls look up to" and the absurdity of her dad congratulating her on killing a bunch of people later in the movie. But those were brief moments and predictably critics seem to be focusing on a couple little jokes about Black Widow's "posiness" in the past and not on those lines which were far more substantive self-critiques of the MCU. For the negatives the script and story are boilerplate stuff and Pugh is pretty dull (turning her into the new Black Widow is not a promising idea). Also despite what I said about the action it still drifts into OTT shit at the end with another of those never ending fights. I really wanted to like this since I've always liked Johansson as Black Widow and she finally got to be the star here. Not the kind of thing I'll ever rewatch but it was fine to watch once, was hoping it would be a little better though. Hopefully my girl Natalie Portman's big upcoming turn in the next Thor is handled better. Probably a 6/10 for this. As a side note with all the complaining about the purported "objectification" of Black Widow in the other movies was surprised they squeezed in so many shots of Scarlett's ass. There were so many times it could have easily been kept out of the frame and was obviously a deliberate choice. So thanks to them for that I guess

Oh wow, first person I've seen say that. Are you surprised because you disagree? She's a good dramatic actress but part of it was that the role was underwritten and she doesn't have the natural charisma to carry a part like that the way Scarlett did for so many years in these movies.

I agree with the consensus, yes. Most people I've come across (and me) think she's the MVP, to each their own though

Well, it's not incredibly hard to steal the scene from Johansson.

Nothing special. Some stuff in the script seem very very convenient. The direction and the fight scenes are pretty good.
Honestly I don't know where does Marvel want to go from here. Introducing Pugh's character and then what?? I don't think what was implied in the end credits scene is gonna be very interesting...
A fun movie overall.
6/10
