Great pilot. Jean Smart is funny in this and it wouldn't surprise me if she scores double Emmy nods this year.

This is definitely on my watchlist! Is Smart's character inspired by Joan Rivers?

Definitely inspired by Joan Rivers, @tyler - altho I'm no Joan scholar. Jean Smart is the reason to watch the show, she's great and very funny. I think the younger lead struggles in her perf and it doesn't help she's annoying as hell... Ep7 was a highlight... funny, compact ep. I love Poppy Liu as the blackjack dealer / friend character.... and Kaitlin Olson is quite good in the show as Smart's daughter... She switches gears in that character really well, btwn mess and meaningful... and of course she's hilarious too. "It's not too late to get your GED" "...um, I went to Cornell."

Renewed for Season 2Nice... and there's room for improvement. I'd move it to Los Angeles... which Jean Smart's Vance would barely recognize after being away for so long, and then bring in the agency characters a little more. They won't get rid of the young lead (grr) so I guess get her a dream job on a new sitcom and whoooo gets cast in a principal role but Vance (who has never really "acted" before and secretly hires a strange acting coach played by Parker Posey of course).

I guess Jean needs to find another spot on her mantle. The last episode was really good.

Currently on Season 2, Episode 5. I love this show. Pretty straight forward. Love the dark humor and how the two leads understand they are both narisstic, but fumble at being understanding. The show needs to put in more Kaitlin Olsen. So wonderful in the opening.

Jean Smart is great but I find that other character insufferable (don’t even remember her name). I feel like season 2 finale was the perfect ending to this show, I don’t really see why they need a season 3 tbh.
