This makes no sense lol, but I think that Hopkins can win Best Actor and Davis wins Best Actress now. She’s campaigning a lot in this voting period more than I’ve seen for awhile, I guess it makes sense since this year is so weird and usual campaigning wouldn’t have made sense. I still don’t trust MRBB will win two lead Oscars though, except that again this year is so unusual I guess it’s possible. Ma Rainey didn't get a BP nod, The Father did. It also missed screenplay, The Father could win Adapted Screenplay. Ma Rainey is at 7/10 in IMDB, The Father is at 8.3/10 and #136 in IMDB Top 250 films. If you look at RT audience score, Ma Rainey is at 74%, while The Father is 90%... I could be wrong, but I thought Morton was saying that their own prediction doesn't make much sense. |

Yeah, my brain says Boseman and someone that’s not Davis, but my heart is starting to say the opposite because of how visible Davis has been in the past few weeks. Since I still think it would be really strange for MRBB to win two lead Oscars despite missing in a field of more than 5, and missing screenplay, maybe the least likeliest scenario happens, imo out of just Boseman winning, Boseman and Davis winning, or Just Davis, and Hopkins will actually pull it out with Davis winning actress. |

I was going to start a thread about the Independent Spirit Awards, but then I saw they were going to be on until midnight and thought I wouldn’t watch them all, but then of course I did end up watching them all anyways lol.
Someone will prove me wrong since I just saw this at a different forum, but apparently when an actor has been nominated for an Oscar and a Spirit Award and has won the Oscar, only three times has the Oscar winner lost at the Spirits (Nicolas Cage for Leaving Las Vegas, Marcia Gay Harden for Pollock, and Sean Penn for Milk).
Just something to think about. I know these were the Spirits, but I thought sentiment would prevail here since I believe anyone can pay to become a member and vote.

I don't want to get my hopes up, but it is looking better and better for Hopkins every passing day.
I'm glad I put some money on him when his odds were 8.5/1.

I said in another thread that Hopkins may pull a Colman, but that was the wrong comparison.
Hopkins may pull a Rylance.

This looks more like Lawrence Riva than Close Colman.
Any way, maybe is closer, but I guess Boseman will win by a thinnermargin than expected, but still he will win.-
Doesn't matter if an actor win by a margin of 12 votes or 1000 votoes, they win or loose.-

 Proud Hopkins Voter. Boseman gave a perf to admire and he was a fine actor,.....but somewhere in the Wales hills is pretty high up all-timer actor serenading his kittens or something in a goofy voice....and he gave the very best perf of the year. It's rare times when the Academy aligns like that but we'll take 'em where we can.
