No Tenet is a bit surprising - even though there's been much negativity about its sound design, CAS has usually supported Nolan's experiments, especially by nominating Interstellar which generated a lot of controversy around its sonic extravagance. I think it's a shame - for me the audio experience of Tenet was just supremely awesome, and I think all the reversed sound work requited a special amount of effort so to see it snubbed is rather sad.
I still feel confident about its Oscar nomination but I wouldn't be surprised if at the end of the day these five become our Oscar nominees.

I wish The Outpost was the war movie in contention here instead of Greyhound. I found it much more immersive and hard-hitting as far as sound (and everything else) goes.

News of the World is showing a lot of muscle so far. Don't be shocked if Greengrass randomly makes DGA. I believe News of the World and Mank are leading in guild noms. While I’m not expecting many Oscar wins for either, I think both will do very strong with nominations. |

these are the mixers right? Tenet missing here isn't too surprising given the controversy. It got two Golden Reel nominations from the sound editors which sounds about right. I think that'll be enough to propel it to a sound nomination.

News of the World is a pretty boring choice here. That movie shouldn't be getting technical plaudits for anything other than Wolski's cinematography.
